i honestly do...and i was trying to get clarification on the matter, and i did.

he handed out the records at the end of the set, which im more than fine with. i was just saying, if it was in the middle, then maybe that time could have been better spend making the set better.

thats all, no bashing, just commenting on what i saw in his performance.

when DJs spin at home, does it mean that they can't go for a pee or get a drink or sit down for a second to rest?

if the track runs out the track runs out. tiesto knows that it's not all in the mixing anymore (at least for him). it's about the crowd loving him. the crowd loves him if he does stuff like this. i wouldn't turn away a record from tiesto just because his track ran out because he was interacting.

Thought I'd do a little intro in the sense of the common good.

Hi, Mr Context, meet Orko. Orko, say hello to Mr Context.

Now Mr Context like to be used in all kinds of ways, please learn his language and understand him.

Thanks.

*disclaimer* This is all tongue in cheek

OMG. We've hit a new low.

Talk about trivial complaints.

Should he not go take a piss til the end too? I suppose talking to anyone during a set is also 'unprofessional'?

Did the set 'go downhill' after this occurance, when he should've been "making the set better"? All of this just to prove to some guy who is uneducated about DJ'ing and this culture "where the hell the skill" is?

Perhaps Tiesto is trying to avoid the 'mass rush' for the stage at the end of his gigs, knowing that everyone will be rushing to catch his set of headphones and 1 signed vinyl that he always throws out at the end? Those grabs at the end have gotten really messy and violent at times. I'm glad he's resorted to HANDING things out, instead of tossing them into a crowd, w/potential for badness to occur.

There are many types of DJ's out there. Some just drop the tracks and wait for the next. Some tweak the knobs for effects (and some even tweak the 'off' channels, just for visual effect). Some actually scratch, sample, layer effects or use multiple turntables. Some have great crowd interaction, others dont even look up at the crowd.

Maybe your friend's interpretation of a DJ is a true turntablist. In that case, 'simple DJ'ing' will pale in comparison, for him.

^^^^^^^^^^^ In my books thats called showboating. Go for a pee or something but play your records and showboat after you are done if you feel the need to. If you are getting paid $150,000 a gig and a track runs out you have no excuse for it. Thats just plain BS. I wouldnt expect that from a DJ making $300 never mind what he charges.

the set could not have gone down hill, it was the end of the set, so im fine with it, please read all the posts before making such a comment. as for him taking a piss, common, thats just a natural bodily function, im not going to complain about such a thing...i think it was pointless to bring that up. peeing(uncontrolable), handing out records(obviously controlable)

as for the mad rush...with those kinds of crowds, people arent going anywhere, i know that, he knows that, and people in the crowd now that, its packed! (and the record still got destroyed! lol)

in asking for comments about this particular incident, i was not trying to impress my friend in anyway. I was merely trying to get clarification for my own benefit, as a Tiesto fan. and ill say it again, i did.

totally agree...i show up to gigs to hear music, not get autographs or anything else....i want music!

but everyone already knows that tiesto is known for showboating and doing crazy gigs and stunts. what is the surprise? that is why some people hate him and some people like him. it's always sort of mentality: "What will he think of next? Where will he be spinning next?"

Why do I go to Tiesto events -- to have fun at a party. pure party vibe.
Why do I go to James Zabiela events -- i want to see exciting mixing.
Why do I go to Digweed events -- i love hearing what the kiddies will be spinning in a year or so.
Why do I go to Sasha events -- i want to see him put together an amazing set from start to finish.
Why do I go to PVD events -- i like the Vandit sound.

the point is you go, to events for different reasons.

would you go to a marilyn manson concert and expect him to just sing the songs and leave?

IMO, as long as the people are having fun, it doesnt really matter what theyre doing up there. (Within reason of course, I mean, you can take in front of everyone or sumthin).

The party go-ers are the paying customers, and if they're satisfied and had a fun night, isnt that all anyone can really ask for?

work 3 turntables, hand out records, play music and keep to urself, etc, whatever it is that brings life to the party and makes everyone happy is what should be done.. Every DJ is different, and brings someting different to the table. And if what theyre doing is working for them, why change? When the people stop having fun, then its time for a change.

very well put :)
Orko
people just dont seem to read posts do you?

i already stated, and will state again, i am fine with tiesto handing out records!!!!! i just thought it was in the middle of a set, which i did not agree with.

the few times i have seen tiesto, he gave me no indication that he does crazy stunts, yes he gets new and different gigs now, but he always seemed pretty professional to me.

is there something im missing? cause it seems that nobody is getting my point. please clarify.
