Your Favourite Movie Soundtrack!

hmm, surprised search button didnt show anything of interest.

either way, i was listening through some soundtracks this week, and i've come to the conclusion that two in particular stands out for me (usually i dont think soundtrack are necessary, since it doesnt fit to listen to except when u watch the movie)

1. 28 Days Later OST
now this is how a soundtrack should sound. written for the movie, yet it does wonders on its own. very nice ambience by John Murphy, alone with a couple of "proper" songs like Grandaddy's AM 180 and Brian Eno's An Ending. The official End Credits sounds like it could be taken from an early 90's indie rock band, personally i love it.

2. Requiem For A Dream OST
By Clint Manshell. another very atmospheric soundtrack. this score is very subtle, rather quiet, and always very moody. A fine album to have on while reading or something like that, but one shouldnt be fooled by it's role as "furniture music". Even without one's full attention, this is a score that will stick with you.

whats your favourite soundtrack? preferably with some explanation why, describe what it sounds like etc.

(prays for "proper" soundtracks to show up, not some "not another teen movie" crap :p )
AlphaStarred
Blade Runner

Vangelis...need i say more? Also, i saw the movie while i was shrooming so the music sounded absolutely blissful to me..
Jackson
Top Gun - Just because it was my favourite movie from age 4 til 12 (yeah i watched it when i was 4, parents fast-forwarded the sex scenes :( )

Gladiator - Enyas songs, just really meaningfull...fit perfectly. Theres probably many more i like, just think about them and i'll tell ya later.

EDIT Kiss of the dragon soundtrack is good too, fits well with the fight scenes.
DRM
Lost In Translation - absolutly amazing chillout soundtrack with soem great tunes on there.

Garden State - has some real gems on that one too.

Dumb & Dumber - dunno why but i just love some of the tunes on this hehe

1. Requiem for a Dream OST / Waking Life OST
Two epic overtures, both made by quartets (Kronos & Tosca, respectively), with every single variation to the theme fitting perfectly to the scene.

2. The Royal Tenenbaums OST
Mostly vintage rock songs, all of which are excruciatingly fitting with the aura of the movie. see: Elliott Smith - Needle in the Hay/Ritchie in the bathroom

Solaris - Cliff Martinez

Excellent soundtrack for a great sci-fi movie. Its very thought-provoking and eery!

American Beauty - Thomas Newman

Not a lot I can say, most folk on here would have heard 'Any Other Name', gorgeous soundtrack overall.

The Last Samurai - Hans Zimmer

Zimmer is the man! Nickelson's 'Yin' samples the last track of the movie and its awesome stuff.

Gladiator - Hans Zimmer

Beautiful score yet again from Zimmer, one familiar with a lot of people so not a lot I can say about it.

The Crow - Graeme Revell

Dark, with a great use of vocals for one of my favourite movies.

Definitely Garden State.
