i have no problems discussing music with people that share my tastes. of course those threads usually end up being about 5 people that are posting in it and then it dies...
and really...i've kinda come to the point where i invest a lot of my time in researching and finding wonderful tracks that no one else knows about...and when i put in that kinda effort simply because i love music...i'm not really willing to share my information with people that just kind start a thread that says..."i need new tracks"...without any kind of effort. i'd rather keep them for myself and the people i like to talk to about music...i think that really this site comes down to what you put into it. i feel like i've made my contributions and so i feel everyone else should too before i just start doing a bunch of leg work for people... |

I think that the "I work hard to find this info, so I'm not going to share it with the kids who dont" idea is a little selfish.
When DJ's do this it ruins the 'discovered' musician's chances for ever being noticed and it almost hordes the tunes to a specific few who have access to the info. Without the consumer the music dies, it shouldn't be used as a tool for DJ stardom, it should be given to everyone so that they can all enjoy its value.
I'm not saying you're doing this though floorfiller.
I think we all come here and bring a different set of tunes and styles with us. Some of us appear better at finding stuff than others, some kids just don't know how to do the leg work to find music. I wouldn't have my abilities to find music(however limited they may be) if I hadn't learned them from reading the posts here.
If I started all over again with no clue, I don't think I would be able to come here and learn how to do that in this age. I think that the valuable information that was here before has been largely displaced by arguing and bitching.
I'm not saying that those who are in the know have to share every one of their finds with the horde of newbies who will likely not appreciate the effort, but I think we could all do better than what we are doing now. It isn't hard to come up with some useful information that is missing in our discussions and posting it once a month, imagine if 10 kids posted useful infromation on a monthly basis, so many kids would be more informed, so many retards would become less retarded. |

now that is a way of thinking that i will never be able to relate to...being stingy with tunes and info just because you worked really hard to find that information or song... lol christ, i don't care if i had to walk across a hot desert to get a great tune or some artist info...i'd gladly share it with anyone who asked. that's just me though. i'm always willing to drop everything and help someone out. i never understood why people actually get offended if you go in a chatroom and say, "hey guys, does anyone know when this track is getting released?" without candy coating it first. it's funny to watch everyone get annnoyed because you didn't butter them up first before asking. i actually get annoyed when people do that to me in person...like call me up and start asking me all these dumb "small talk" questions, followed by a, "oh by the way, would you mind if..." just ing get to the point and ask me, i don't give a .
u guys need to get your heads out of your cyber asses. :p |

Now, Jamie, the question becomes:
If you had to walk across a hot desert to get the world's most ridiculous coke, would you be stingy with it or would you cut that up!?! |

hahahah
i'd share. i share everything...even my coke bag if someone doesn't have any and wants a few bumps. stingy is not in my vocabulary...it's not in my nature to be like that. |

I am all to familiar with the stingy DJ attitude, there are a lot of kids here who put stickers on top of all the records they spin so that nobody else can find out what tracks they are.
The poor househeads are almost without music because the DJ's have hoarded the music so much. Seriously it is almost impossible to be in the know about house in these parts without being a DJ, all the house kids either spin or get cheesy ministry of sound CD crap.
I hate that there are whole styles of music that are only accesible by DJ's. I think the selfish holding of good music is part of the reason behind the huge amount of bad music in circulation.
In their defense, dj's with unique sounds tend to get copied when they share their info, almost to the point where someone will copy an entire set and pawn it off as their own work.
now lemme grab some of them drugs off u slylee |

Hmm, I've never heard of that phenomena. Doesn't happen much here, I guess. |
