When DJ's do this it ruins the 'discovered' musician's chances for ever being noticed and it almost hordes the tunes to a specific few who have access to the info. I think we all come here and bring a different set of tunes and styles with us. Some of us appear better at finding stuff than others, some kids just don't know how to do the leg work to find music. I wouldn't have my abilities to find music(however limited they may be) if I hadn't learned them from reading the posts here.
If I started all over again with no clue, I don't think I would be able to come here and learn how to do that in this age. I think that the valuable information that was here before has been largely displaced by arguing and bitching.
I'm not saying that those who are in the know have to share every one of their finds with the horde of newbies who will likely not appreciate the effort, but I think we could all do better than what we are doing now. It isn't hard to come up with some useful information that is missing in our discussions and posting it once a month, imagine if 10 kids posted useful infromation on a monthly basis, so many kids would be more informed, so many retards would become less retarded. |

and that's fine...i don't care if people think i'm an hahah. you don't have to suck up to me, that's not what its about. i just think that if you're one of the people that stops by the site every six months just to get a couple of track reccomendations to go download...i don't really feel like helping you out. and its not like people can't find them on their own. i mean i find all my stuff on online record store samples...everyone is just as capable of doing the same thing, but they don't because its easier to wait for others to do all the work for them. if we're gonna talk about music...lets talk about it.
i dunno maybe i'm being a little selfish, but that's fine with me. and its not like people are asking me personally "oh man...what's that tune" because something like that i'm gonna give the name. i'm just done offering up music suggestions in those types of threads. maybe its because i'm an aspiring dj and literally your record crate distinguishes you from the pack...but i dunno...that's just how i feel about it these days. i mean i'm not gonna give change to the bum on the street either so maybe i'm just not a compassionate person hehehe... |

well, from the things I've read today I don't think you are causing these problems, I've seen a bunch of places where you have given people recomendations and helped kids get the tunes they want.
Aspiring DJ's do need to create a unique playlist and that gets hard if you paste the thing in forums, but a few pointers in the right direction never hurt anybody either.
Anyway, I'm gonna try harder to post some things that I am whining about not seeing enough of, maybe some more effort from me would help my cause a bit.

By stateing that Newbies and Elitists are bad you are taking a position that because you are neither of these you are in some form superior to both of these groups. This would make you elite in some form (morally, ethically, whateveryoulikeally). If this is true then you are in fact and Elitist and therefore are bad. Your statement can therefore not be correct as it employees self contradictory logic.
I content that newbies and elitists are neither good nor bad objectly and no such judgement should be made of them |
