you guys are priceless...

It's so easy for you to make fun of Guvernment. Funniest thing is, you all show up for every event when one of your beloved trance DJ's is a special guest. And imagine the s*it storm that would fly if anyone said a negative word about Tiesto or Corsten or Armin.

Why do you insist on badmouthing the club that put Toronto on the international map. Plain and simple, it is the only club in North America that has maintained it's excelence for 9 years now. If you don't like it, that's fine, you are entitled to your opinion. But why the negativity? If you're on the "I hate Guv" bandwagon, then you're really just a jackass. If you make fun of it, then back it up by not going. But that won't happen, because as soon as tiesto gets booked again, you'll all be there.

Couldnt have said it better myself Joe.

hey Joe, it's because when Toronto's scene was in the crapper [~2000~2004] the guvernment was the ONLY club bringing in talent on any kind of regular basis. People began to complain about the lackluster effort they were putting into their parties because they knew the hardcore dance music fans had nowhere else to go. Toronto's scene is back on the upswing, and I think most people will agree, the Guvernment has been putting on better parties now as a result. Although I still think they can do a slightly better job still.
Jayx1
lackluster in what sense?

Theyve been bringing in tonnes of talent not to mention the resident DJ who is talented himself.

And even 2 years ago guv bashing was the cool thing to do.

Yes, but that's just because I happened to be in high spirits that night. I don't think twice in 8 months makes me a regular there.

bashing it today shouldn't be the thing to do. Actually for the most part I've been a little more satisfied with their parties.

I seem to remember loads of parties where they'd tell the public they were selling a limited amount of tickets and packing everyone in like sardines. Another is how much talent they brought into the club those years. Look at it then, and look at it now, and there's no comparison, the guvernment has brought in many more headliners in the past year than they did in the bulk of the years between 2001-2004. Other problems I've heard of over those years that still persist today are the expensive drink prices [expensive even for toronto club prices], the quality and temperment of the security staff, along with the lack of extra effort put forth for big parties in the way of decorations and giving the club those little make-overs to make an evening seem a little cooler.

That being said, I have been a little more satisfied with their effort from the two times I was there last year, but that being said, I still carry a bitter feeling toward the club and now that I have a choice, coose to spend my money elsewhere for the most part.

Oh, and I don't wanna start a flame war, but I'm not a mark oliver fan. Never have been, it's jsut a personal choice, but I don't think he's all that good.

I know. When I was new on this board I got into the hugest flame war with tatgirl of all people about mr mark oliver.

I accused him of being a 'jack of all trades DJ', and one who's vinyl shopping list always was exclusive to the previous week's essential mix. That set a lot of people off.

Well hey everyone has their opinions. There are plenty of DJs out there that people like that are not my style both local and international. Such as tiesto....
