Euthanising patients through unnatural means is illegal, so this is the most viable option. |

On topic: If she's a vegetable, kill her.
If not, she should have made it clear (as Kramer did) what she wanted done should this situation arise.
Overall this seems like a very minor issue. The life of one person is at stake. In Iraq alone I'm sure there will be tens of people dying today. |

removing the feeding tube is (from a legal stance) passive death, its completly legal (see Nancy Cruzan case)
Since they know removing the feeding tube+time will = death, why not remove time and just kill her now? Because its illegal.
That would be active death, and unless you live in Oregon (death with dignity act) Shes too incapacitated to kill herself so that doesnt work, so letting her die over time is the only legal thing to do.
Its pretty harsh, and I think the law needs to be changed to allow euthanasia in cases where death is imminent like this. But disability groups are so against euthanasia because they fear abuse of it, and widespread massacre of disabled people.

on the same note removing her feeding tube will cause death over a longer time than if they remove her fluids as well (but I dont think they have). About 1/4 of the time, and she will dehydrate and die instead of starving to death.
While I think what congress did last night is horrible, I think the courts should have looked at it the first time around(so last nights vote fixed the initial wrong) and I expect the decision to remove the feeding tube to stand. It better (and I saw my death and dying prof on tv giving an interview about this very subject last night) |

As opposed to jokes that exist naturally in the wild :p? Well, I said it was dumb myself, yet it illicited a few chuckles and your day is never complete until you've heard at least one dumb joke. |
