I ahve had some crazy of a similar nature happen to me on two occasions.
The first time was when my mate - who had smoked 3 spliffs - decided to overtake a taxi. I was in the car - not driving though - along with 2 more of our mates so 4 people in the car in total.
The taxi in question had earlier overtaken us doing 50mph in a 40mph speed limit but tat did NOT excuse my mates performance just minutes later when he overtook the taxi doing 90MPH in a 30MPH speed limit so basically triple the legal speed limit. We missed a collision with an oncomming car by less than 5 seconds.
We slowed down to 60mph after that but things became worse when the taxi driver we had overtaken decided to match our speed. He kept it up for the next mile or so before we went our separate ways. The result of this is that, after my mates have taken a ride with me driving, they acknowledge that I am definately the better - and more sensible - driver!
The second occasion was when I was held up by a red light on a roundabout with 5 exits. I was driving this time. The lights went green in my favour but when I was about 25% of the way across the junction, a white van doing roughly 75mph jumped the light of the exit on my right which was red against him. Only some rather smart breaking from me means that I am here writing this because if a collision had taken place then he would have hit the driver's door. In the event, we missed each other by about 3 seconds. But the other driver must have been drunk, on drugs, or both. I didn't see his face or his registration plate.
Bad luck to your mate anyway. I hope he pulls through and learns his lesson.

If they didnt give him a driving while drunk ticket coz they couldnt prove that he was driving it while drunk...who the hell was blamed for the accident? i.e the car's driver? :conf: |

| i had a friend who got into a HUGE accident when he was intoxicated with another drunk driver. he was brought to the hospital and was in a coma. and he got off cause theyre not alowed to take and test blood without his permission if ur under a coma. he got aay scot free. with alot of injuries btuno jailtime or license suspension. he got lucky. and he never ever drank anbd drove again |

i had a real good friend who went drinking and driving.he drank 7 beers and though he was ok. On the freeway he killed both his passengers, but he was ok. the Car slammed to a tree, split the car in half. His half was spared. I went to his court hearing, he was found guily was sentenced to 5yrs. Before he was taken away...
No ..it's the truth:
I said,"That sucks man, you going to miss Austin Powers tonite!" You see he really liked austin powers and goldmember was coming out on the theaters that night. all he can say it's "I know"

| yeah this has been a very sobering experience i'm not going to drink at least till august 17 and thats when i turn 21 so i guess its my resolution. I've had a lot to think about today, just lucky to be alive really, it could have been a lot worse. For those of you who think its ok to drive after a few drinks, no joke it could happen to you so be smart please! |

I came back to scene like 20 minutes later with a friend and there was cops everywhere. We were both extremely lucky its a miracle that i'm sitting here typing this with some bruises and a scratch, he got off with nothing. Since there was no wheel witness nobody can say he was driving so he got no ticket, no DUI or jail time, thats just the way the law is. Guys please don't ever let your friends drive drunk or yourself drive while drinking its stupid and completely irresponsible, i had driven and rode with drunk people many times but i will never again. Don't wait till something like this happens, if you drink be responsible. |
How come most drunks dont get hurt at all? |
