Many children are sexually active (in a hormonal and physical sense) by the time theyre 14 years old. Many other hit their sexual peak around 17-19. Sexually speaking, these kids are ready to be having more humans , but because of the conventions of the current society, they cant (Because parents are required to take care of their young, etc etc.)
Summer days spent staring at the clouds are nice, but they provide an unrealistic interpretation of what real life will be like. I know you and I have radically different life views, so we probably won't agree on this point, but children aren't children as long as we, as a society, force them to be. I think 15 or 16 might be a better cutoff line. |

In spite of that, you can't have a clear cut line as "if she's 15 years old, than she's an adult already". Teens are often self-destructive, in their hormonal turmoil, and even though they might be phisically prepared to have a child, it's blatantly obvious that teen pregnancies are a serious problem, specially when it comes to emotional and financial needs.
In fact, I would go as far as saying that sex should be avoided before 18 (unless the children are married for some reason), because if you can't drink, can't smoke and can't drive until you're that age, I don't see why having children should be allowed. Then again, things shouldn't be that strict, although I really don't have a better idea at the moment.
Heck, teach children how to use their own hands :p |
