I wouldn't really call the 2005 model a fad. It's outselling the previous model by a great deal.. To be more clear.. the 2005 is selling more than the 99 did in its first few months. Order banks are full. Prices are being jacked above MSRP and (idiotic) people are buying them.

If you read my reply, it says that every company is guilty of pumping products out. And I find it impossible to believe that your t bird has needed nothing more than an oil change in almost 17 years...

Hey man, whatever you need to tell yourself whatever you want to sleep at night. Go right ahead.

Guarantee you man.. nothing but regular wear and tear. No major anything. Where are you getting 17 years? It was built in December 1993. It's a little over 11 years old. Oil changes, alignments, tire changes. Nothing major.

And I did see that in your post. Your dumb little analysis of the FORD name is what triggered my reply.

2 things. My mistake on the date. Thought the tbird date was that of the f250.

And for the acronym. There is one for every type of car out there. Pontiac, Cadillac, Ford, Chevy, GMC, Acura etc. Its not exclusive to ford.

My biggest gripe with Ford is the amount of recalls due to defects there have been. I just saw that on explorers and expeditions (mid 90's to early 00's) they are recalling them because the cruise control ignites. My old man has an 04 Exped, and its been in the shop due to recalling defects and misc problems that it has had already. And no he doesnt abuse it. How can an old retired man that drives it to the grocery store and church damage a truck... They arent built like they used to be. Cars used to be hardy as hell. My 1987 Volvo 240DL that I owned as a teen had 240,000 miles on it. It was a tank and put up with alot. My brother in law has a 2003 Volvo S40 and has had countless issues with the engine, tranny and suspension.

My main point on the new ford. I think it is ugly. I would never buy a first gen of a new model. But living and working in the city is great. No need for a car. Thats why I can have fun with my subaru WRX-Sti when I feel like it. That car has never given me problems (albiet it is a year old) but I never drive it. If I did, im sure I would as well.

As the other american companies have done, ford should follow suit.

No more camero, no more firebird.... the mustang should rest as well. I think that it looks horrid. I am not a fan of mustangs at all. Everyone I have ever met that owned one acted like they had something to prove by buying one.

That being said and due to the fact that I have had a few fords (as well as the family) it is easy to say that they skimp on craftsmanship. But then again.. what place actually cares about craftsmanship when they are just trying to pump out the most product for the buck. Every company is guilty of that.

Ford boils down to Fix Or Repair Daily....

I beg to differ
the 2005 mustang looks gorgeous

Greedy
i just think its sad that Ford has the rights to the "Cobra" name cuz all they do is beef up a pile of steel and slap on the Cobra logo on it.
