to all the people who sit there and say "wtf dave clarke tech trance?" do some homework.. oh say about 10 years ago.. look up something called "red 2" - THAT is tech trance. not mark norman crud. :whip:

I think threads like this are pointless because genres are constantly changing. Trance around 10-12 years ago sounds nothing like trance today, its a sound that has evolved.

Same as stuff that was classified as "Rock" 30 years ago probably wouldn't be classified that today.

Are u serious..

The style that James holden plays is called Minimal techno! No-where near tech-trance! ! ! !

Have at look at his latest productions and remixes and tracklisting to his sets..

clarke = techno
preach = techno

holden...hrm, haven't gone out of my way to hear him since he was known as the pixie king.

tech trance is just a trance DJ who plays either some techno, or harder techno influenced trance music. Orkidea, Mauro Picotto etc.

Calling preach or clarke as tech-trance, you might as well destruct the whole genre of techno and move it into tech-trance.

im talkin about *one* song he wrote, einstein - as an example of tech trance music.. highly percussive but still has a driving melody behind it.. name me anyone besides marco v who uses heavy percussion combined with the trancey melodies in their tracks?

if I want techno Ill listen to a techno set.

if I want trance Ill listen to a trance set.

if I want progressive Ill listen to a progressive set.

if I want electro Ill cut my ing ears off.

My point is that listening to quasi sub genres will never be as good as the full thing. There are usually a few tracks at the start of the genre which are acceptable cross overs (lethal industry? a few of the electro prog tracks which came out early-mid last year) and make the sound popular. But then others try to build off of their popularity, and fail (at sounding as good as the first few), but still seem to get played.

In summation, TeK TRaNcE SuCkS.

I like to classify people like DJ Preach, Michael de Hey, Dimitri Andreas, and to some extent Picotto, etc. in the style of Dutch Techno - where the sound isnt so dirty and the texture is much more thinner/tight. :eek: :wtf:
