| Stupid owners have no place in the city. Who are you to say that someone shouldnt be allowed to have a pet? There are lots of stupid drivers. Lets ban driving and force everyone to take government sanctioned busses instead. |

"How can you say it has nothing to do with the breed??"
The argument was it has more to do with the owners, than it does with the breed.
Let me try to explain something. There are basically two types of dogs, the family pet and working dogs (police, protection etc.). If you look at them both, naturally they are the same domesticated animal, however if you look at SPECIFIC breeds (ie. german sheps, belgian melinois, rotties) those can be trained as working dogs because the agression is in the breed, and training the dog brings out that agression and puts it to good use.
So now take a rottweiler, a common family pet as well as protection dog, and put him together with a bad and abusive owner. The way the owner handles the dog will bring out those agressive traits and since the owner has no idea how to control this since he is an idiot, the dog runs loose and starts eating children.
hope u can make sense of that, i'm having a hard time putting my thoughts together. i'm not an expert on dogs, but i learned quite a bit from my trainer. |

This is what nannys, nimbys and antis cant understand. Their laws are not based on a) fact nor b) the realities of daily life.
They are more concerned with kneejerk reactions and political asperations. |

There was a crackhead growling at a few of us the other day...frothing at the mouth, demanding a crack tribute for crossing his road or something...too bad he wasn't fenced in, cause that guy seemed positvely agressive. Did i mention he was sooo scary as well. Maybe after they're done banning all the dog breeds that pose a threat to mankind, the next target should be those crackie buggers who seem intent on polluting the scenery. |

But there are many other types of dogs that will bite, and for no reason at times. Read my 1st post about friends' dogs (a mutt & a lab) biting people they WERE acquainted with / knew & were friendly with. For no reason they bit. Same thing happened w/me and my friends pitbull. Had he not been there to hold her back, she would've taken my face off, and I'd met that dog loads of times. I was giving her a kiss. Maybe I was invading her 'personal space'? I dunno- we're not dogs so we dont know what goes thru their heads? |

Those growling crackie buggers, they get me every time !!
I have seen some nice Rottweilers with responsible owners, but my neighbours, WOW. They have a 2 foot fence, and I have had to run into my house from these dogs several times when they have jumped the fence, and the scary part is, there is 2 of them, who most definitly look angry. The kids in my area are bit by these dogs all the time, and these neighbours have only been around for 6 months. I just have had bad experiences with these dogs I guess. |

You guys don't understand that they're banning them because of their potential for danger. Sure Collies might bite your ass everyday, but how often does a Collie kill a child? There's a new story every damn week about a pitbull doing that. They are banning them because they are bigger, stronger and can do more harm than other breeds, and they continually have proven to do more harm. You can't just consider all dogs equally, that's ridiculous, there's little yappy ones that you can kick a field goal with, and there's 200lb rotties that you'd need to take out with 5 shotgun rounds to stop it from attacking you. I don't see how you cannot see the difference. |

Pitbulls have been around since the 1800s but yet because the media suddenly has a slow news week and decides to rehash every possible dog attack we suddenly have to ban them?
This was the same thing that happened to raves. Also remember how everyone was afraid of shark bites a few years ago because the media was hyping it up? Meanwhile shark bite reports had never risen and suddenly we never heard about them ever again after sept 11.
Don't let the media run your thoughts |

i have had two rotties living next door for 3 weeks now, and they've been peaceful, so far. i was worried that they'd bust through my fence and attack my two yorkies... i've already been bitten by a dog saving my pups before. in my neighbourhood people let their dogs run freee without a leash.

and i hate collies. |

my Family had Bullterier,Pitbull,Rottweiler.
i was biten by bullterier ,and my grand ma too, this dog was purely stupid, and we had to "let him go"
Rottweiler was specially trained together with Ptibull and yet once on the walk ,our rottweiler tear a part arm of the 12 years old girl, next thing he did three years later that he tear up throat of the secretary that came over by to do some paper work.
and Pitbull ... she was the nicest dog ive ever seen - smart and loyal, she was playing with kids on the playground and never ever bite no one - except on the special training where she was taught to protect family members.
she never bite no one outside of the training camp.
morale - there are stupid dogs and irresponsible owners - make the owners responsible ,that will solve the problem. |
