| Was driving home monday and saw regular at 79.90. I had enough for another day so I thought prices would drop mid-week. Boy was I wrong  I was running on fumes this morning so I had to fill up at 87.9 for regular. WTF!!!!!!!!!!!! |

| Maybe we should look at getting more efficient cars, i know that there are a bunch of hybrids that are coming out and I think thats only the begining. I am dreading paying for the high prices of gas when I go back home to BC in april......... |

It's nice to finally see hybrids look like normal cars (ie. civic), however, how much do you have to drive before you see it as a worthy investment (~$16,000 civic VS ~$27,000 hybrid civic). From the specs, you'd also be losing about 30HP and only saving approximately 3-4L/100KM. Don't know about maintenance costs, but I'd assume fixing a hybrid could potentially be more costly due to newer technology etc. |

I asked a guy at the auto show how much the big ass dry cell battery is in a hybrid?...its like almost $10,000:eyespop: ...I would be timid in buying a used hybrid unless the warranty on that battery is like 10years or so...For now diesel would be the way to go. |

Ford Escape Hybrid battery is ~$6500.
Unique Hybrid components such as the High Voltage Battery, Electronically Controlled Continuously Variable Transmission, and DC/DC converter will have an additional warranty coverage of 8 years/ 100,000 miles (10 years, 150,000 miles in PZEV states were required by law). |
