As for the ring, I believe its SOP for the ring to cost 1 months NET salary, this allows for people of different incomes to balance out :)

they're about as played out as Von Dutch trucker hats.
i'd go w/ something like this...if you can afford it. obviously it doesn't have to be that big...but i really like all the little tiny diamonds around the main one.
and i don't know about your girl, but i personally prefer quality over size, so even if you get her a smaller diamond, but it's from a very nice, then that's better i think. dont get a big junky looking one from sears.
