someone told me that they have actually never built a prototype of this airplane before, so it has never really been flying? They have only tried in computer simulations so far, and they have already started to build them :D |

Just had a look at AC's timetable and they offer approx 1160 seats / day to London over 5 flights.
If they were flying the A380 on the route, they'd only have 2 flights to meet that capacity.
There's probably only 2-3 routes that this would be feasible for them.... London, and and possibly Tokyo / Hong Kong. It wouldn't really be in their interests to only buy 1 or 2 of them (which is all they could really use) given the added expense in terms of training and maintenance for a new model.
It does make sense for an airline like BA though. |

New aircraft projects always start off with simulations, and then go into prototype productions. |

Rumored to be 777s or new Airbus A350s. They won't be getting any A380s. Whatever it is, it'll be a big wide-body purchase. |

They don't fly 5 flights a day because they're full every single time, part of the equation is frequency. They want to be able to provide options to travellers. Cutting back on flights and increasing capacity isn't the answer. Customers want options, not just a single flight per day. |

Exactly... which is why I brought up the fact that with an A380, they'd only have 2 flights a day.... not very convenient for travellers. |

From what I heard from insiders, its most prob the A350..cheaper to train new pilots / crew, since they already fly the 330 and 340. |

Yeah, but this one they didnt even build a prototype of before they started production? was just my physics teacher who told me about that, and he seemed pretty impressed! |

| putting the a380 aside, air india is starting on may 15, toronto-birmingham-amritsar. its a boeing triple seven, which has been bought by air india from united airlines. :D |
