so damn hostile, what'd he do steal your girl or something? |
No dude, he didn't, and I didn't think my tone was too hostile... The point is, the rest of us were there to support each other and the event, not seeking recognition or chanting our own names... Some of us weren't an hour away and couldn't bring our own cheerleaders, so having the other DJ's there meant a lot at least to me, and I think to a lot of the other guys...
Think about this: Every other DJ was there, beginning to end, and I know towards the end of the night people were getting tired and were ready to get some sleep for long drives home.
And just one last note to Topher: Dude you're a good DJ, I think you do good work. Your production was bomb. But Dude, save your prayers for yourself, I'll be just fine.
Edit: Also, +1 to Lucas... |

wow guys, wow:D outfrickinstanding!! i must say i am very happy how this turned out... other than right now i feel like a hollow shell of myself, i finally crashed at about 5:30a and woke up and left around 11:30a back for ohio, that drive was a bit shakey to say the least but i'm alive!! there was quite a turnout considering this was our first time and i must thank chris and dan for promoting the out of this party locally, they did it right! and to all the other DJ's who came out early and stuck around late to hang out, drink with me, and generally act the fool i had a blast with you all, i think we must meet up again! the end of the night was pretty interesting... despite it starting to clear out a bit before we were ready to slow things down, charley (tyler) laid down some sick ! i think all of us had some minor rough spots whether it was getting the feel of the mixer, or the needles skipping, but it really does sound great. we had just about a perfect blend of variety and sounds from all the different DJ's. cheers for the drunken soldiers who hung out till the end (that included me as the drunken leader) to listen to a phil collins remix with the house lights on and the PA dood looking impatient :stongue:
about the recording: let me tell you this, i listened to a portion of the night in the car (a few of the 7+ hours) and the whole thing is just in rockin outta hand... i didn't expect the DJ's to hand off to one another, i was thinking i would stop the recording in between sets but as it turned out it mostly just flows through all 7 hours of the mix from one guy to the next... great great stuff. from what i listened to the recording level was just about perfect and the sound is crisp. i am transferring now. i will get it sorted out and i'll put the individual mixes for everyone on my website or FTP for you guys. for the DJ's only i can make available the whole night in mp3 if you want just a straight shot, but its will kill my bandwidth if i put the whole thing up for public d/l. and if your a complete audiophile like me, i can send you the 7 hour wav on a spanned CD set.
trilasonet, before you get a copy of the mixes you know what you have to send me, right ;) (hint: its a picture!) haahaha someone hook me up with that!!
daniel k are the people you brought with you on TA here? your buddy (the guy) was asking me for a copy of the whole night so let me know his TA name if he's here. lou bega loved your mix, he was just floored by your !
thanks to chris for hanging out the night before and taking us to that little shindig where i got kind of wasted unexpectedly
i arrived in the laf with a big smile, and i left the laf with an even bigger smile. most of the people i met there were just all around cool cats. we must all do this again! so, any of you guys want to go to hookahville with me?
:) |

OK finally back at home, and I am exhausted! First and foremost I am sorry to the last two DJs for leaving because my friend got a little drunk and wanted to leave/I was exhausted and had to drive another hour that night and 8 the next day. I can't wait to hear your recorded sets though!
I'm bad with names so I’ll be vague; I met a load of cool TAs and had a blast. There was some awesome housey mixing going on when people started showing up, the friends I brought were really diggin it as well. RJ you did a phenomenal job just as I have heard from you in the past. Topher, can't say enough not only is your mixing superb (taking into account that technical difficulties are oftentimes not our own fault:crazy: ) but your track selection was incredible. I dig the track you and your bro were working on I can’t wait to hear it in it’s final stages. For some reason most people filtered out at this point which is a shame because next up was some rockin , I stayed for a few tracks of that set and then we had to leave.
Had a great time too bad I had to stay sober haha, look forward to seeing you guys at future shows, hit me up if you’re ever in the area.

yeah rob! hooooookah
ok, well nevermind the one part of that last post, i'll edit it out. things went along pretty close to schedule and i've already found where most of the switchoffs were. sounding nice:) imma gunna get this done as soon as i can, unfortunately i gotta work in about 5 hours so its going to have to wait until tomorrow, but thats ok because the file is so damn big its going to take over an hour for it to create the peak file diagram of the wav:p
i have some pictures too! i'll post some here or the link to them.
@ tril... you were the one who had the "three kings" shot with me.. that guy didn't know what the hell he was doing!
-you: "yah the three kings is 3 different shots of tequilla"
-me: "hmmm... tastes like jager"
-bartender: "yeah i made it with 1 part tequilla, 1 part whiskey, and 1 part jager..."
uhhhhh... wtf is that?
@ WM2... glad you were taking pictures also, let me know if you plan on posting them!
@ atari addict... nice to meet you bro! i hope you had a blast!!
@ crrrrrrrrrrrrrrrazydan... thanks to you and your girlfriend for everything, especially getting all them lights up!
@tylerc... thanks for the CD man :) although you and I didn't have the peaktime slots (well in theory we did, but not according to lafayette's nightlife) your set was great. hope ya come back out if we do this again!!
@ rob, chris, n1ps, and lou bega (once he ing joins)... we held down the afterparty, sort of...? haha "how many ing rootbeers are you gunna order?" the bubblegut was all that kept me awake during the drive home...
we had a diverse group of people just from the DJ's and friends alone, and i must say it was my pleasure kickin it with you guys! aiight its time for me to get some *real* sleep now! |

A curse upon the Guard for scheduling a drill on this weekend.
Glad it all worked out well. Hopefully I'll make the next one. |

Hey Rob. Im not trying to start any problems or anything. I wasnt driving so I had no choice when I left the event. I was with 4 other people so I had to be considerate of them. I do understand your point that you are making though. I really really really wanted to to try and get that track to a point where it was playable and it was at the expense of getting to the venue at 8 when it started, and Im sorry that I couldnt hear your set. I had to leave after Daniel K's set because my little brother and his 4 friends were really tired and one of them felt sick. I do feel bad that I couldnt stay and be around to hang out and dance and talk with everyone, but I had to be flexible with my plans considering who I was with. |

Pretty much explains everything we just talked about :D it's understandable of course, just would have been cool to know that 24 hours earlier ;-)
Glad to get that sorted out.
Cheers. |

Well I finally made it back to madison. Holy I had a good time.. It was definitely worth the trip and I hope we can do this again. From the looks of this thread and the pictures I've seen there were a lot of people I didn't get to meet. I guess there's always next time.
Thanks a ton to those who stuck around for my set. I had a blast and it was great to finally get to drop a few of my own tracks in a set. By the way, that was my first ever time using a cdj, so I apologize if those mixes were a little rough. It was really sweet to see people getting down to the Force Of Gravity remix, definitely the highlight of my night.
Rob - I loved the you threw down and I am definitely looking forward to seeing that tracklist.
Dan - I'm gonna go ahead and vote yours as my favorite set of the night. Flawless mixing and hot deep progressive tracks. Bravo.
Lucas - Dude, you got the crowd rockin. I remember one breakdown in a tune where everyone cleared the dancefloor and I was like "oh luke, you killed the vibe" but then the build started and right before it kicked in everyone stormed back onto the floor and the place went nuts. It was awesome.
Topher - Definitely kept the crowd hyped. Solid mixing aside from those table skipping issues. I think I knew which track was yours, but I'll wait to hear the sets to be sure.
Daniel - Epic man, it sounded great. You didn't seem to pleased with your set, and you had that monitor blowout or whatever that was, but I was very impressed.
Andy - Your worked perfectly after Daniel's. Super epic, awesome tracks. But you made my record skip so I hate you :D
Joe - Dude, you have no idea how psyched I was to hear you drop some housey . That just made the night perfect. in classy track selection. Sorry you got cut short, but I know how it feels....I think we both only got 40 minutes.
Chris - You didn't spin, but you definitely deserve mad praise for puttin the together. I'm glad it all worked out and no one ended up losing money.
Btw, Andy was having some major skipping issues when he was trying to cue up one of his tracks, so I looked at the tonearm and the weight was set ALL the way to the back! I can say with about 98% confidence that this was the major source of our skipping problems. I set the weight to about 3 grams and didn't have any skipping problems at all (aside from Andy reaching across to grab his cd :stongue: )
