hell....I've never seen a picture of Mad Mike Banks but I bet that's probably him, the man still rarely does interviews and he is unknown to most.

Frankie on Trance:
Look here.....If it means anything to you all, trance does really suck the golden balls of all styles & genres in Dance & Electronic Music. TRANCE IS CRAP MATE!
But that really is just my opinion and like everyone reading this can say what they feel, I will just back up my theory to this comment and move on...DON'T TALK THE TALK, IF YOU CAN'T WALK THE WALK......
TRANCE - Sandra Collins & Micro are two trance DJ's who would probably not be where they are today, if they did not find inspiration in hearing me play records 12 years ago. I always liked the Hypnotic side of Techno...like Harthouse, Frankfurt Beat, PCP. Listen to any Beltram record from 1993-1994 and understand what Trance is supposed to sound like..."Caliber" on WARP? That is trancey....
PROBLEM - No Emphasis On The Drums......TRANCE
always has no emphasis on the Drums & Percussion.
Trance Sucks because nobody gives OLIVER LIEB much credit for being able to find a happy medium between TRANCE and TECHNO and until somebody does TRANCE SUCKS....Because all good tracks start from the Drum Programming and nobody cares....It is
so formula & Cliche' that everyone playing it sounds the same........ |
I remember reading this in the discogs thread I was talking about, do you have a link to it?

After reading through most of the posts, he also provides why he had to play vocal stylish tunes for the "Miami" crowd. He apologizes to all the old-skool heads for this set, saying that he merely spun what he knew would be received well by the crowd. Pretty interesting
:D I thought it to be better than most I've heard lately. Just not a big fan of vocals by any means......ughhhh and that PQM track makes me regurgitate my lunch :whip: But it gave me a feeling I haven't felt in a LOOOONG time and resparked my interested in EDM. Gave me that feeling of listening to Tracid's - Too many times for the very first time
:wtf:
Any other mixes or CD's anyone can recommend? |

| personally I love PQM's work, it's so dirty and filthy |

Haha. I want to see techno dj playing hardhouse with heart. I think hardhouse is what techno/house DJ hates most of all genres.:happy2:
When reading that childish , I'm wondering why I started listening techno 12years ago.. |

god no, mike banks does NOT make hard house. beats and beeps is right.
as for frankie bones, you fellows are really good at finding what you don't like and looking at nothing else in order to form a misrepresentation of someone, aren't you. you missed quotes like this:

I think Delirium's "Silence" and Taylor feat. Libra "Calling Your Name" have become more tolerable over the years, but you have to understand that most trance really does suck. But not more then techno, or any other genre. There are maybe 1 out of 10 records that get released that are deemed 'quality' and maybe 1 out of 50 that is really good. |

I love to find good trance records to break down the stereotype.
I like to accomodate the conscientious crowd by playing the 4 big electronic 'food' groups - House, Techno, Breaks and Trance. I do have to say that people that are into trance are not the brightest rays of sunshine on a partly sunny day. Because if they were Oliver Lieb would get a little more credit. That being said 'Pollenflug' by S.O.L. is a record on Platipus that is quite solid and quite good. |

But seriously folks. Is Gaetek any better the Commander Tom?
Is Ignition Technition any better then Emanuel Top? Is Bush really a better label then Bonzai? Or what about these guys like DJ La Monde? Is that Techno or is it Trance? O.K. Mad Mike is better then M.I.K.E. but M.I.K.E. is better then Mike Humphries who is still better then Micro but not Niko, you know....???? |
okay he was on one of his weird trips there...
and by the way, in case you didn't know, frankie bones jumpstarted if not began the rave scene in america, and supposedly is the originator of PLUR. |

whoa mate. my perspective is very balanced. He's an ass, yet spins the crunchiest beats. You see, postive and negative ! :p And to me, those quotes you provided didn't shed too much optimistic light on trance, just a mere tolerability. Thanks for digging those out though! :D Always an interest in what he has to say. |
