Lightshows do NOTHING for me (pg. 3)

always liked the green, they were pretty intense.
but the rarer ones I used to like were orange and purple. Or the really bright, almost white blue. When those things were lasting for a long time, I couldn't care less about mixing up the colours.
But after learning most of the basics, I found glowsticks limiting, and switched up to either the 'LED fingertips' or jsut the plain LEDs. There were so many tricks you could pull with all the lights on the ends of your fingers, or all the crazy transfers with the single lights. |

never used the LED's but I see people with them and they are more impressive than the glowsticks your are very right!
more tricks can be accomplished and they are less cumbersome!!!

I would quite enjoy a display of your "visual trickery" actually sometime - from someone who knows how to use them - and not hit me in the FACE!!! Maybe that is why I have this stigma - I know they can be effective - I just know it - yet I am hard pressed to find a professional in a sea of amateurs...for real!!!:D |

Wearing shades makes the blurr effect even more intense/better. Trouble is i almost never wear my Oakleys when im getting lightshows bc im afraid they wil get hit and scratched. im very concerned and protective of my oakleys.
i really should invest in a ty pair and bring those for when getting a show.

I was getting a show from a guy at Hulla who either had these LED fingertips on his pointer fingers or it was some kinda tiny glowball.
OH.MY.GOD it was the trippiest show ive had in about a year and a half... when all of sudden the lights would disappear and or hed make it look like he ate them or that they disappeared into his nose or ear, i was just like "shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit" . i remember just being amazed at this guy for the 10-odd minutes he was at it for. LOL.
First time id have one of those shows. it was so different than the usually glowstick show i end up getting. variety is the spice of life :D :p (having great skills at it helps too, lol)

I've actually hung mine up for the time being.
After having my LEDs stolen by some chick in montreal [I lent them to her to try to find her stuff in the speaker stack and she walked off] I haven't replaced them. Plus, Boa frowns upon them. But I do miss using them, and have been teetering on the edge of reinvesting the money for a decent pair.
But if I don't buy a new pair, I'd recommend seeing kabelicious. I had the pelasure of meeting her on my b-day last month, and she was voted 'detroit's best', and although it was at boa, and I couldn't see her with glowsticks, the movements she's got are really really crazy. Her style is very organic and syymetrical, I guess you can say, makes he look double jointed at every turn, whereas mine is more of a 'swarm' where single lights act 'out of phase' doing the same or similar patterns. Her style makes you say 'what the ', where mine will leave you crosseyed. |

Haha, I do those tricks....when you know how to do them they're the easiest things in the world.
Facial expressions when doing those are key. Make the people believe and they'll trip out like mad.
Did he transfer the lights all around his body as well? Or give the image of tossing one light into the air and catching it with the other?
I swear LEDs make it sooo much more creative. Because they're so bright I like to pull tricks where you see the light thru the thin flesh of my hands. giving my palms a 'glowing look' or turn them towards me and giving them a glowing look on the clothing I'm wearing. There are so many extra things you can do with the LEDs |

+1 the disappearing is AWESOME!!! Only had one lightshow like that ever (think it was at LoL '04 at my FIRST event) and since then I was hooked!!!! Cam really fired it up a notch with his glowballs at US7 and I hope to get a visit from Sly_Guy or house_conxion, too!!! :D |

You SO KNOW your , man!!! Yeah, I can remember those facial expressions and I was just smiling this BIG DUMB smile!!!! :toothless
And tossing it up was sweeeeeeeet...I'm getting so excited about this now...Sly_Guy PLEASE come to Danny T!!!!! Damn just read your post...hope I get to see kabe at Danny T!!!!
And I did a few basic shows with the two diff coloured sticks and I loved watching the pupils literaly point in OPPOSIT directions!!!! When I did that a couple of times I new I was doing it right!!! LOL!!! |

I don't know how to use them but I'd love to learn...but I prefer using sticks because I get a treat out of them when I use them, too (I'm so selfish!) with LED and glowballs I can't picture myself getting tripped out... |

keep just using the sticks to start with fayraree.
going for too much too early isn't a good thing. Not to mention, a lot of those 'trippy' moves that a lot of people do are really easy, and short lived, so you can pull those but if your patterns aren't up to snuff, it won't look good overall. |
