Interesting/inventive patterns, variation of speed, control, the ability to surprise the people around you with misdirection of your body movement as well as those extra little tricks people have in their arsenal makes for a good show.

seriously... used to be a ton of fun to dance with glowsticks and trip people out, draw crowds of onlookers, etc...

again.. attitude affects outcome.. if you prepare/intend to enjoy it, you will - doubt and you won't.

They've never done anything for me, but the thing that I don't think people understand is just wrong is the "blow on your face" at the end some people do.

Me and 2 of my friends were sitting in the Drink at Ultra Spin and some random dude comes up and gives my friends a lightshow. He does the "blow" and the end and they both jumped back and went on about how it was the coolest thing! I rolled my eyes and this guy said "dude, you won't be doing that when you get the ending", so I reluctantly agreed...

He does the lightshow for a bit..yawn...then he ends it by blowing on my face....AND SPIT LANDS RIGHT ON MY FOREHEAD!!! Needless to say whether the spit flew or not, it didn't do anything for me. He apologized, but I mean seriously...I would rather take a glowstick to the head than random dude spit on the face.

I do give respect to those that do actually have some moves to go with the sticks.

I don't remember when that came into being for the final part of a lightshow. Personally, I don't enjoy giving them, but sometimes it's unavoidable, but the way I like to finish mine off it to 'push' the lights close to their faces in controlled time with the music, then circle the lights underneat their chins and give them a little tap on the chin to let them know it's over. Help em up afterward too. Gotten amany free drinks that way.

where can u buy those??

You can buy them at Wal-Mart in the toy dept. that's where I bought mine before, but the company that makes them discontinued them. So if you got them keep them they're gonna be a rare commodity. The strobes are really fun to use, I'm quite good with them and have been doing it for about a year now. The different colours that pop up are amazing and are in a certain order. The favourite one that I like to use are the 3-D balls that just flash and when you move the wand fast enough it just looks like a bunch of balls floating in the air, always a crowd pleaser.

I think glowsticking is an intrical part of EDM but only if it's done by people who know what they're doing. Back in the old days when I first started it was all free-hand for me doing figure 8s and variations as such. That got kinda boring for me so now I attach two glowsticks in each hand with a keyring, sort of like a nunchuk(sp?) and twirl them around. It's pretty amazing since there are so many different things that can be done with that and like many other people I've learned on my own through practice and I gotta say I got quite good.

I'm not trying to be arrogant or anything but it's kinda nice when your giving a lightshow to say 3 people and next thing you know 10+ people are huddled in a circle just in awe. If I'm in a groove I can prolly go for 10-15mins without stopping. I remember once I was on top of the stage boxes at guv doing this and I looked into the crowd and nearly everybody I can see within eye distance was just watching, they had stopped dancing and was focused on me.

Glowsticking has and will always be a part of me it's my "hidden talent"

the craziest trippiest thing ever has nothing to do with light.

CARD TRICKS is where it's at.

Give me the dark corner anyday. Just let me go nuts uninterrupted, and with a little room.

On a side note, the numchuck style is the only thing I never tried. I got a chance to use a friend's real numchucks at mac in first year, and since then, the single ring just doesn't cut it, so I didn't bother to learn. Like the style tho, I just get a little impatient with it when I try.
