Calling all web designers...... Help us save nightlife in Toronto

b4-koz and I have concluded that the current situation with nightclubs is most likely going to get worse before it gets better. Although now is not the time to make some noise at city hall, we want to be prepared in case the time does come. All it takes is one more incident at a club (or banquet hall/donut shop or whatever the media decides to call a club). If this happens you know that this will turn out the same way as the pitbulls did.

What we need to do is create a website for if and when the time arises that we need to organize and preserve our way of life. The problem is that b4-koz and i are both useless when it comes to web design. If you love your scene and you are willing to donate time to help create a website to prepare in the event that we need to organize, please contact either b4-koz or myself.

The time to act is now or else we will end up living the lives that everyone else forces upon us.

And Jeff, lol...u know I love Boa and only wish for the best for you guys, but if City Hall decides to seriously talk about this then the situation will be very different.

like i need to plug.... im just stating what i see, from my perspective. you said 'the current situation with nightclubs', when really i think the only club in danger of having to change anything is the docks.
Tordan
After that single mom shooting incident a few weeks ago the politicians are targetting all after hours clubs. It's the island dwellers that are causing problems for the Docks right now.

Yeah, it can turn the media around when they realise there is ppl thinking the opposite of what they wrote...

hate to always compare to sweden, but a couple of month ago there was a drug raid towards a trance cruise there (huge thing in sweden), and the media/police went crazy and said lots of stuff that had nothing to do with reality... so a guy (from TA) started a petition, and got like a 1000 ppl to sign it or so, and he sent it to the media, and they started to write from our point of view too! so i guess it could work! could easily get a lot more ppl to sign it in toronto too!

The venue owners (who are the main stakeholders) should be organizing and financing some sort of awareness campaign.

Hand a flyer out addressing the issue with action items as patrons leave the venue.

Sign patrons up for email lists to get notified of developments/etc when they enter the venue.

Use the ZOOM bathroom spots for public awareness messages.

-------

As much as it is our "lifestyle" at stake - it is their BUSINESS at stake. I'd expect the whole industry to come together and organize a full assault on politicians, patrons and surrounding businesses.

It will definately take some help from the owners but if it appears that THE VOTING PUBLIC is angry by this it's only then that politicians will really care.

The only way to make politicians care is to show them numbers and relate it to their future as a politician.
