Unbelievable. Why cant these arrogant bastards admit they have been defeated? And people still want to vote for these guys? Sorry but now they are not only corrupt but also undemocratic. These guys think they are dicatators!!

Normally, a battle over Constitutional minutiae is about as exciting as watching grass grow or paint dry. But not on Tuesday night, when the opposition won a narrow motion in the House of Commons demanding the government resign.
The Conservatives and the Bloc forced the issue in the House of Commons on Tuesday, winning a highly contentious motion approving the Liberals' ouster by a vote of 153-150.
But the Grits claim the motion isn’t binding, and they plan to stay put.
The reaction outside the House continued across party lines. “The fact is that this was a procedural motion,” defends Prime Minister Paul Martin. “The sending of a report to a committee. A procedure motion according to the expert opinion is not a vote of confidence or lack thereof.”
Needless to say, Conservative chief Stephen Harper disagrees.
“We have in office a corrupt party which is in the process of ruining this country's finances, and which now is ignoring the democratically expressed will of the House of Commons,” he fumes. “This government does not have the moral authority to govern this country. It has not sought the financial authority to govern this country. And it does not have the constitutional authority to govern this country.”
So who’s correct in this battle of rights and wrongs? The experts maintain in the end, it doesn’t really matter.
“It’s a procedural vote, which could lead to a confidence vote, if it comes back from the committee as a confidence vote," explains Professor Michael Behiels of the University of Ottawa. "So this is really the beginning of the end for this government.”
Liberal House leader Tony Valeri insists only a vote on the budget will really bring down the Liberals. But in the eyes of the public, the damage may already be done.
“I think this is really just politics at the moment,” Behiels adds. “It's grand theatre as usually happens with minority governments as they're about to go down to defeat, and so everyone is really jockeying for position in the upcoming election, which probably will be sooner than later.”
The real budget vote could take place as early as this week – if there’s still a government left by then. If it fails, Canadians could be headed to the polls again in June. |

| Let's see if we can beat Italy's record. 49 elections in 48 years at one point, I think. |

I would just like to point out that the topic title is misleading. It was NOT a confidence vote.
But, it's obvious now that Canadians are gonna be subject to bitching and moaning from all parties until this election is called, so let's just do it and get it over with, so our government can get back to work.
I really wish Canada would step away from party-based politics and just have everyone run as an independent. I hate having to choose between voting for the MP, and voting for the party. I am sure there are lots of honest Liberal MPs who are not gonna get re-elected because of sponsorship scandal. |

That's why the party needs to be purged, reformed, and refounded. |
