| I wanna buy turntables and was looking around. I was originally planning to go and buy Technics 1200 MKII's but now changed my mind to the numark TTX's. Is there a reason why i should buy the technics over the Numarks? I've only heard nothing but good things about the Numarks but are a bit worried about the biases of these reviews! Also would it be much different if i learnt on the Numarks and went to a club and had to use technics? Price isnt really an issue i just want quality decks but dont want fancy crap that i wont use! The only negative thing ive heard is that the Numarks hasnt been able to proove its reliability over time! |

Basically, the Techs are the standard deck of basically any club you would ever go to. They're hella reliable and have virtually no WoW&Flutter. The TTX has an ungodly amount of torque, a sexy LED screen, I think has a bigger pitch change %.
If I were you, I would chose the techs over the TTX's for 2 reasons. A.) They will more thank likely last you a good 20 years, B.) Any club you would play at would probably have Techs and adjusting from the motor on the TTX miight be a little tricky. |

| I have heard too many horror stories about ttx's crapping out. |

| The majority of the people I know that have owned the Numarks have had to upgrade to Technics after they stop working. I do know some folks that have had them for a few years and they're still working. |

keep it simple. Why have all that showey crap when techs have been tested through time?
im all for simplicity...and with techs, you get that. Durable little bastards. i swear, they're tanks! |

| Ive heard the TTX's are tanks too. They dont scratch as easy either because they are coated with scratch resistant something or other. They are metal like technics and weigh more. The only doubt i have is on the motor of the TTX. Also is there a major difference between techs and the TTX when mixing? anyone used both? I also heard someone dropped one like 2 or 3 feet and it didnt even have a scratch on it! |

| I would suggest stanton st150 ungodly torque, built like a rock, nothing too fancy to break easily, all metal construction. honestly i like them way more than my techs. |

Tech's have been proven to be reliable because they have been around for so long. the X1's are a fairly new turntable so there aren't that many around and we are not sure how long they will last. However X1's are undoubtebly more feature loaded. It has a nice LED screen, you can change the pitch step, how fast the turntable starts up and slows down, and it has interchangeable tonearms. It even has a BPM metere..(which I would probably not recommend using though)
The Techs really dont have anything special to them besides an S shaped tonearm (which numarks also have) and reliability. They have no other features that makes them special.
I have used them both and I really like the extra torque that the X1 puts out (actually, it gives out A LOT more torque than a tech).
Personally, I would go with the X1. I dont know how long the motor will last but the outer parts are all WELL built. A Technics can get banged up pretty easily. |

Personally, id go for the TT500s from Numark.
Much beefier than the TTXs, less bull.
had mine for a year now, can barely tell there a month old.
Solid, high powered deck. |

I would go for the Techs just so you know what you are getting and you wont have to look forward to replacing any gear.
Sure the Techs doesnt have this or that, they are just plain vanilla vinylpushers but hey, isnt that what a turntable is all about? |

| Go for techs. There is a reason (actually) many that after nearly 25 years the design is virtually unchanged. Clubs use them because they last longer than anything else. The numarks are decent but do you really need a digital display? Everyone bangs on about more torque which is fine if you want to buy a tractor but why do you need more than a 1210 offers. There is also something that everyone is missing.....the feel. Although totally subjective the techs feel like no other in use and retain resale value like no other electronic goods. Ever tried to sell...well anything and get 80 90% of your original outlay back? - as long as you keep techs in good condition you will. |

Its an old argument, but Dj Rann sums it up nicely.
If i walked into a club and saw a pair of numarks I would think it was a joke.
If you purely want something to use at home, then numarks will do the job- but dont expect them to
a) Last
b) hold any resale value whatsoever
Unlike a car, for turntables- too much torque is a bad thing. |
