| What an amazing night! Finally got to party with the TA's, what an experience. Man do you'll know how to throw it down. What a shame about the charity getting rippped of though, but what goes around comes around and I hope it comes around twice for whom every was/is involved in that. But the night was just amazing and the music was insane. I can't wait to party with the TA's again. |

Sally & Michael - can you update us as what exactly happened that night?
It would be nice to hear from the organizers (remember the telephone game in preschool?)
my review to come |

Board Wars’ inception was a means of uniting our electronic music community for an evening of rhythmic exaltation and an opportunity to assist a small portion of the millions stranded in South Asia. For weeks the three of us have worked tirelessly to materialize this wonderful concept and on Saturday we finally came to enjoy this feat; I have emphasized this because as M and I scrolled through all the wonderful posts of support it became clear that our third partner in crime hadn’t been mentioned alongside our names.
Heidi, aka Angelgirl has played an integral role in this event soon after Michael and I came up with the board wars concept. In fact, she came up with the “versus” theme. M and I feel an obligation to iterate the many hours of devotion she has put into this event. She was also in charge of coordinating the compilation CD! So please pay as many compliments to Heidi.
We’d also like to thank Aaron, for mastering the CD and playing technician to all the DJs Saturday. Your patience and kindness will not be forgotten.
Saturday brought us much joy, and much sadness. As many of you know, money was taken from our cash box. The box was closed, but not locked. We naively never fathomed that anyone present at this momentous occasion would steal from fellow friends. That is correct; there wasn’t a single patron not associated with an individual at the event.
It pained us greatly, to think that someone would have the audacity to steal from all of their friends, and worst of all, to steal from those ravaged of their possessions, livelihood, and families.
The money was taken between 15 minutes of me leaving Michael for a break. When I had returned and relieved Michael, I opened the cash box to count the money, and as soon as I saw what was there I didn’t even have to count it. The height of the bills was so low my heart sank immediately. I looked under the tray and nothing was there. I restrained myself from panic until Michael returned because he could’ve simply stowed in a safe place.
It is a sad lesson to realise that one cannot trust a single soul. We were gullible not to hide the box each time our eyes were averted to perform coat check. That is the reason you did not see us the remainder of the night.
We are forever endeared for all of your support; to the DJs both upstairs and downstairs who sustained laughter and exhilaration throughout the night and despite technical difficulties. Thank you for handling yourselves so amicably. To all of our friends, and friends of friends who came out for an amazing cause, and to support these masters of sound.
Michael and I may have trouble reconciling ourselves to the theft, but we’ve resolved to put this aside and move forward to assist those in need. We may not have raised as much as we’d hoped on Saturday, but it doesn’t mean we can’t still try.
This is exactly what our money is going towards:
REBUILDING
Q: “Approximately how much will the Habitat houses cost to build?”
A: We estimate it will cost us approximately US $1000 per house or US $200 to get each family member out of a displacement camp and into permanent shelter. This estimate includes costs of materials, transport and building centers designated to provide more families, NGO partners and others with expertise to build homes in order to reach and possibly exceed 25,000 families.
Please click here for more Q & A from Habitat for Humanity
Michael and I are pledging an additional $350 towards the tsunami relief fund. Voodoochild is pledging $50.
Liam, amongst many others, has suggested a Pay Pal procedure. Tomorrow Michael and I will set this procedure up and make the information available to you. While we’re reluctant to ask people to dig into their pockets yet again, we do so because this is such an important cause – any donations are appreciated no matter how small. The donation will be anonymous.
Once again, we thank all of you for your tremendous support. Many of you don’t know how much of a sap I am. You guys brought me tears of happiness!
I hope that clears some stuff up!
Sally
Ps: we have some copies left of the Board Wars compilation CD of original productions. The CD is $5.00. Please PM me if you’re interested. |

That's amazing - this is my 4th Tsunami relief - music/related function I have attended (the best music too!!!).
Put me down for $15.00 (a copy of the cd - and my cover to get in). Habitat for Humanity is an excellent organization and is deservedly worthy of my (albiet) small pledge - but a pledge none-the-less. In my current financial situtation - it might as well be $100.
thanks guys - TRANCEADDICT UNITE AND DO WHAT IS RIGHT !!!!! :D |

Yea, when Margs told me about the money later on in the evening, i was shocked beyond belief.
That is complete balls, and i cant believe either that someone had the nerve and audacity to do such a thing... in general, and especially more so given the nature for which the money was being collected.
:whip:    I cant imagine the person who did this, how they can honestly live with themselves! |

You guys did a great job and have nothing to be ashamed about when it comes to the loss of the money.
The great thing about money is that we can always get more. ;)
I have no doubt that we can raise more than what was taken since only a portion of the TOTAs were in representation at night.
We will show this dishonorable thief that our TOTA giving and compassion is greater than their selfishness!
Looking forward to the PayPal info...

So great to see everybody again, and the others whom I met for the first time: Angelgirl, djn8goulet, and probably a few others that have slipped my seriously sleep deprived mind. Also I know she's not a TA, but Frank's lovely lady, RICHELLE, has some SERIOUS MOVES. Perfect match there!

Hee Hee....I am a TA, I'm just one of those ones you guys refer to as a lurker....LOL..... What can I say, I don't have a computer!!!!
ANYWAYS,
I too had an awesome night!!!! It was great to meet all of you and to see those of you that I already know!!!!! Hopefully will see everyone again this weekend!... Always a great night when I can spend the whole night dancing like a fool.... and thanks to NAT the night didn't stop at Mad Bar!!!! Pretty much missed Tall Paul, but MO kept my booty shakin' til 7 a.m......Planning to do it all again Sunday....and well Monday too.
Sorry to hear about the money being stolen, thats terrible. It's not enough that the person who stole it will have bad karma and maybe a guilty conscience. |
