Oh off, read over what I put again. I said the playlist side of things was all about opinion, and that's fair enough if that's your cup of tea. But the mixing skills of a DJ is factual, and Armin's is crap.

How many trance djs, or any generic edm djs for that matter do any sort of creative, or difficult mixing? Not many. Arguing about mixing skills amoung big name edm djs doesnt really go anywhere, I mean people go on and on about how good sasha and digweed are at mixing (talking about when sasha played records of course) but do you consider their style of mixing to be extremely creative, or difficult? I don't. especially not with the records they play. Which are usually perfectly tailored to their long drawn out mixes.

Granted not many at all, but I think Armin is the pick of the bunch here because you can listen to a set of his with say 12 tracks and there will be 12 identical transitions. Although there is not much room for creativity with this field of music, I think you'd be hard done by to find someone more boring than Armin. And on the subject of Sasha & Digweed, I don't rate Digweed at all, but Sasha's mixing is one of the tightest in the business regardless of how much 'easier' it may be to mix the records that he chooses.

the one positive thing about armin i can say is that he's consistent. i don't think i've ever heard him trainwreck or do sharp untidy volume changes/fader slams like tiesto or oakenfold etc. other than that though i pretty much agree with mike... there's nothing *interesting* about his mixing at all really, from what i've heard of it.

Chicane @ The Palladium for sure, but I think that was a live PA so I don't know if you'd count it

Yeh i'd definately recommend this for uplifting/near flawless mixing.

Also some early Tiesto livesets (from the 1999 era) might be worth checking out Krysta. They were really uplifting and I think he concentrated a bit more on his mixing back then too. Some of my favs:

DJ Tiësto - Live @ Hyperstate 1999, Oslo [05-08-1999]
DJ Tiësto - Live @ Eurodance 1999, Melkweg, Amsterdam [07-10-1999]
DJ Tiësto - Live @ The Trance Energy Millenium Celebration, Eindhoven [31-12-1999]
DJ Tiësto - Live @ Mysteryland 1999, Jaarbeurs Utrecht [03-04-1999]
