why is it hard to successfully run a night anymore? (pg. 2)

It's because no-one wants to share the love and work together, Each crew wants to do their own thing, coz they think they know best. Which is great, but when the music those on these forums love, is taking a back seat to the electro house invasion, then we all need to work together and stop sitting around tapping at a key board and stroking our chins and discussing how things should be done.

We need to forget about who's the best local dj/producer, because until all these dj's start making some great tunes that get noticed, then they wont get to the next level.

So in the meantime, we need to work together and focus on throwing quality 'parties', and be happy with that. All the dj's might not get to play as often as they would like but the more that get to play as guests etc at each others nights, the more people will come to the events. It's all about supporting the scene and not just talking about it..

Make sense?...

i would say to a certain extent that these days, the people you hang out with is the only determining factor in getting the most of a night out. sure, one or two DJ will stand out from the rest and delivers the music you wanted. but even then it will not be enough.

lets put myself in the middle of this fictional case scenario. first, lets return to the yesteryear where we can't wait to go out and see sean quinn and kasey taylor doing a set together at room for example. i'd go alone if my friends doesn't want to, they were that good. i dont care what the crowd situation would be like because i love a night out and they will deliver the tunes that i like. now, lets return to 2005 where deep dish will play in less than a month. i love deep dish. i reckon their GU Moscow was amazing. sure they might jump to the handbag bandwagon a little bit, but that tiny bit of hope that they will play some of their older stuff will keep me pumped and get a ticket. but then i will remember the muzzas, the munters, and any other annoyances at metro when i was there for sasha the last time. i would think that i cant be ed for that and thinking prolly deep dish would suck anyway and i ended up doing nothing that weekend.

needless to say, i was not the only one thinking with the same mindset as depicted in that fictional scenario. believe it or not there are heaps of people out there thinking exactly the same thing.

how can we fix this, i wonder?

in all honesty, i would give my support only to those who are worthy to be supported. i love a night out, i love hearing the music that i like and i'd rather hear it on a proper soundsystem out of vinyl and not off mp3 :D

I'm glad you're coming to UNIFY tomorrow night then. Looking forward to having a chat :-)

There is only 1 reason i go out a lot less. Cause all the wits that go out that make a good night near on impossible. Im not talking about a random bull chat with some stranger, fine by me. Everyone knows the guys i am talking about.

Ive just lost count of late the number of times during the night i have had to save my wife from (not talking about fighting) some shirt off, roided up, speed freak, gurning head intent on making the whole night miserable for her. So many places you go out to now are just plain old sausage factories and how can that be fun for any female. How much fun is a night with 90% guys 5% girls and 5%undecided? Not much.

Maybe i just need to get grimey with muli and forget trance for a while.

house parties are more the way of the future i think. as noted above, bad crowd elements are a big part of that, unpleasant bouncers don't help.
add to the availability of sets for download now, less and less you have to go out to hear new music. Chances are by the time you drop that bomb track, we've all heard it form some big names set on our pc, so it loses impact a bit.
same with the number of nights now. There's no shortage of trace events our tours, none of them stand out that much. Deep dish hasn't been here since 2001, so that's brought a lot of friends out of retirement, it's a special event.

its no harder now than it ever was before.

trance has been placed in a pigeon-hole, so today everyone believes trance only sounds like the big 4 (dutch). But the most succesful 'trancey' nights going around dont just play this style
DaveBegic
so jules what you're telling me is nights that dont just play epic trance are jam packed every week in and week out?

please name me some places that are supposedly this successful.

jizza
i would say the most succesful nites contain 0 trance.

the most successful nights in melbourne are hand-bag house nights. we can diss them all we want, but they must be doing something right!
