Sorry to hear about this stupidity. Don't let it get to you. Individuals like that are simply ignorant and blind. As satisfying as retaliation sounds, be the intelligent person, and don't sink to the same level of stupidity that these idiots do. They will only see it as further 'proof' of their beliefs. They will never learn, their ignorance makes that a certainty.

I'd say that's a GROSS overestimation. I would think that prejudice and racism are fairly evident almost everywhere, but for the most part people know better than to act stupidly on those thoughts. |

Prejudice is one thing. But when it manifests itself in such a hatefull way, i think that figure is actually true. Look, everyone knows that racism exists. Sometimes it's on the surface, sometimes you can feel it in your bones...but having some neonazi punks openly taunt you like that .Spitting, marking you with a swastik...wtf is that all about ? I've never heard of anything like that in Toronto. Maybe out in the boonies...but in the city. That's pretty brazen stuff.
and yes...it's stupid to stoop to their level. But that doesn't mean you should hide either. As a colored person i'd be furious if that happened to me. Sure, do what you can as a citizen and report them to the cops cause chances are those s have probably done (or will do) something similar to another person. But for s sake don't let them intimidate you.
Better to take a beating even if it means you one of those guys up...and I mean that. The human body can withstand and heal from a termendous amount of pain...but a wounded spirit is something that takes a long time to heal.
But yeah...don't look for a fight. Do everything you can to assist the police. I hope for your sake they are able to catch the cowards who are responsibile. |

Dude, I am so sorry to hear that. Holy ! I can't even believe that happens in real life. I mean, you see it on TV or hear about, but to hear that it happened to someone you know - BALLS! Ridiculous. I have NO idea how I would have reacted in that situation. Wow. I am so disgusted and revolved by that ing bull. I hope those ing jackasses get what's coming to them!
They need their asses kick HARD. That's so intolerable -- I am speechless.

I'm appaled that this still goes on.
Parents don't realise or don't care that they pass a lot of their values onto their kids and that hate breeds hate. Of all the things to hate in this world why would you have to be so ing inconsiderate as to hate on a fellow human being based on past experiences.
Granted that everyone has stereotypes. If you've been robbed twice by black people chances are that you'd be more weary of yourself around them. It's how you deal with these preferences and stereotypes that distinguishes you from the pieces of trash walking around self-prosecuting unsuspecting people. If I ever did anything like that I hope that my nearest friend or family member would beat me within an inch of my life and send me to the hospital.
People need to just grow up. It has a lot to do with what the kid is raised around. Just like with the school shootings I have the same advice, parents, watch your ing kids.

You can't change these people. They've had their ideals for years and rarely can they be reasoned with. You have to be the better person and just walk away. Unless of course they get physical, then you beat their racist ing asses and walk away. Otherwise, just let the proper authorities know so that they can take out the trash :D. |

Seriously, though, I only got that word jokingly in high school, and then I just nullified it by using it myself...I know it's not a good solution but after you get past the word (in jokes, and believe me the racial slurs would fly for EVERYONE: white, brown, you name it) you hopefully realize (and this has always been the case for me, thankfully) that the intentions are not bad at all...
...but not in your case. What's the intersection of that store, and what area of Toronto? I guess cuz of all the minorities in Scarborough I never had this problem.
I can't believe they spray painted you; that's like something I'd read about but not to anyone I knew...maybe even send an email to pulse24.com and say where it happened; they're pretty good about reporting these racial incidents and then it helps get the message out that this kind of thing is not tolerated in our awesome city...

I find that the easiest way to make light of racism is to joke around with your friends of other races (provided you have some) and just turn the racial stereotypes and jokes around.
