yea, i watched american history x and thought that it will never happen to me but it happenes when u least expect it

in 6 years of living here I have never heard of such extreme racism in this country. I am truly sorry you had to go through that. As a fellow Pakistani I encourage you to stay strong and don't let a couple of ignorant pussies get the better of ya.
Thank god this country for the most part (99.9%) has much better sense that!!! |

I do not think that is such a good idea to intimidate them further.
I hate to say it but when you are in that situation you are better to run , call for help or take the lumps. If you get them going by fighting back it will only increase the amount of abuse.
As a German I am embarrassed and appalled that this happened to you and that certain groups or individuals (cowards) still hide behind something that should have ended 60 years ago! |

Yeah, I see your point; why not just keep (even positive) racial references on the down-low so that you don't start any problems...although this is definitely the peaceful and possibly more mature route, I don't like it because it doesn't help solve the racism problem that needs to be dealt with. Discussion of these types of issues will hopefully help minimize prejudice in general...and unfortunately in this case it was physical action that prompted this discussion but things like his username or my flag can also start a good dialogue (as it did in a previous thread a few weeks ago--something about why we keep diff flags despite being Canadian citizens). |
