Correct, our own egos cause a thought process that there must be a reason.
We exist because about three billion years ago there was a random mutation in an amoeba. This was followed by a series of other random mutations over the next three billion years, resulting in what we are today. |

Seriously though, the reason we exist is because of various mutations from the beginning of life on Earth. It is only the natural need to reproduce and pass on our genes that have brought us to be what we are today.
The question is complicated and I think that when we know the answer, we will cease to exist. Life will be meaningless then.
Personally, I don't really know what we exist for, what our purpose is.
I mean, we only have a limited time before the sun dies or we pollute the Earth too much or something like that.
In conclusion, have fun as long as you live, cause it only lasts till you die. Then what you ask? Dunno, but everyone of us are going to find that out some day.
