once again, midis just won't do justice to a melody... listen to some midis of successful trance songs... who said an anthem has to be a arpeggiated supersaw? what if you wanted to do something different... can you imagine john askew's remix of waterplanet's introspection on a midi, my god that would horrible and nobody would consider it (just based on the melody) for production.
i think TAs will be able to set apart melodies from synths. like said before, synthwork is just as important and in order to get the full idea (and potential) of the melody across, it should be played with the synth the producer had in mind.
i doubt there will be much bias based on who sent it. i mean, if luke terry or carl b or even airbase sent a ty melody, i don't think anybody will vote for it just because they sent it. |
The point is that we all know how to emulate a supersaw.
You don't actually listen to the midi in piano... you open your sequencer and copy the notes in the miditrack to your chosen synthstyles.
And yes, a good, well-written melody will sound good in a large variety of different synths; and most importantly, piano.
It would be interesting to see some remixes done in acid, some in supersaw, and some in dreamy atmospheres. As opposed to all using one blah supersaw. |

Oh well, I guess mine won't enter because I didn't send it anonymously. :toothless
But yet again, hey I'm not famous so... does it really matter, is not like I'm gonna morph the objectivity of people with my name. :D |
