First off I would like to thank Louis from Aria that set us up with the tickets and the VIP bracelets. Also getting us Vip for Central Station. Louis you are one of the Greatest people thank you for making our weekend the best we have ever had.
Swirl was the best event that i have been to. Toronto Promotion companies should take some notes on to see how a real event is done. We got there at 1030pm, We did not stop dancing till 9am. Everyone was so wanked out, that we had to leave for Toronto so we wouldn't get caught in Traffic.
Great sets by all Dj's |

| Louis seems like a super-cool guy. Haven't met him yet but looking forward to doing so on June 10/11 for Sasha @ Aria. He's already holding on to a couple of pre-sale tix for me... |

I went to Swirl with Tatgirl a few years ago. Had a great time! some of the Ottawa crowd goes to Montreal for the big parties, and I ran into them back then. It was great! People having sex up in the stands, girls with the poi glow-stix, and the body-massaging where they lift you up and all your friends hold onto you.... incredible!
Yay, Montreal! :D |

i drove up for this one as well and boy was it worth it (exept the tickets which i didnt pre order since i drove up last minute and had to buy one at the gate for 88$ yeesh) ... neverthless christopher lawrence was fantastic, it was my first time seeing him and wont be the last ... liebing was ok but im not into his style anyway .... armin was fantastic and this set definately is up there with his idream set@kool haus in 2003 ... caught the first couple of tracks of b&j but was to knackered after armin so had to bounce ... the crowd was very good ... the women were smokin and the overall organization was most impressive and TO could definately learn a thing or 2 about avoiding huge cues ....
it was nice meeting up with tatgirl and maxto even if it was breifly ... lol i guess you guys were at the front ... i was at the back the whole time since the front was rammed
some of the tracks i remember from armins set( in no particular order):
ava mea - in the end (opener)
roland klinkenberg - till ya drop
mike foyle - love theme dusk (what a tune)
jose amnesia - second day (martin roth mix)
tiesto - adagio for strings (rob styles mix)
andy moor - halcyon
armin - birth of an angel, communication & i think he dropped serenity
blank and jones - perfect silence
enmass - cq
firewall - sincere (smith and pledger mix)
fred baker - all of us
sophie sugar - call of tomorrow (??? mix)
max graham - gone
thrillseekers - synaesthesia
fred baker - total blackout
puple haze - adrenaline
ron van den bueken - sunset
paul van dyk - crush(vandit dub) - the crowd went nuts for this 1
rank 1 - breathing(breaks dub) - closing track and he added bass to it
i think he also dropped rank 1 - lyteo and filo and peri - luana
thats all i can remember ... gr8 nite neverthless |

Another awesome massive held in Montreal!
On a whim, I brought my camera gear to see if security would allow it, and once they said I could, I went back to the car to get it. Got searched & cleared, but when I went to go in, they said I couldnt bring in the camera bag for fear that I 'may hide something in there'. Um, if u just went thru my bag & cleared it, what would I put in there?? This just made carrying a huge camera & flash around very annoying. Weight of the equipment aside, and no where to hide it / put it away, every clubber & their mother wanted me to take their picture all night long! Then I had to explain to most of them that I'm not really taking pics for any website, and I may post a link on TA when I do, etc... In the end, instead of telling them that whole runaround, I told them to check edmm.ca . So, Malek, they're going on your site!
Missed Marco G, absolutely LOVED Christopher Lawrence & Liebing as I always do. Liebing played "Square", "Murder was the Bass" & that 'fire!' track. Also did something 15 mins b4 his set was done, some crazy long sound effects, total head trip, amazing. He is the master, & u could tell by the crowd reaction that he was who many of them were there for. Very good set from Armin (I've never heard a bad one), and anyone who thinks he played 'soft' needs to get their head checked.
But I was a bit disappointed by Blank & Jones, which sux, cuz they were the ones I was most hyped about seeing. I was really pumped to hear this one song they played (whose name I dont know), but they played really hard tracks I couldn't ID & not much hands in the air synthy tunes. Then then played Born Slippy (ok, I'm sorta sick of this song), and they played "Nightclubbin" (tune!). My friends wanted to leave by 9:30, & I was hiding from them in the crowd, saying '1 more song, please play it', and they went on this spree of overplayed tracks- Adagio for Strings (which was already played), Southern Sun, & Synthaesia. So I gave up. We left at 9:45. Shoulda played more of their own tracks, and less of their remixes of songs that have been played by everyone.
Hoped there'd be some decorations, but the video live feed was great. Lighting guy(s?) sorta sucked tho. Standing in front of the tables w/the controls, and leaning back to flip a switch up & down once in a while is not too professtional, lol. Not in tune w/the music at all, many dark moments, and more lights = better pictures. Those great blue spotlights in the back were 'forgotten' most of the time.
One complaint: the sound. Man, I was smart to bring those earplugs! Got sad looks from people who wish they'd done the same thing. Even B&J were holding their ears when they got on stage! And if u thought the sound was bad in the trance room, it was 100x worse with vibrations in the hip hop room, since their music is so dependant on bass. Ah well, a risk u take when attending a party in such a venue. Surprisingly, the hip hop room was dead in comparison to this room. They would've done better booking an entirely EDM event.
Regardless, the crowd was friendly, staff efficient & polite, facilities were good. Steroid boys need to wake up and see how STUPID they look. Holy crap! Made for good laughs, tho. Not too many 'prostitutes' at this party compared to BeB, which was good. Why women need to prove to everyone that they're not wearing any underwear is beyond me. Ran into many people from TO, even at the very end. Didn't meet too many MoTA's, tho. Also surprised to see my buddy Pete Moutso from back home (DC) who arrived once again w/Armin. I at least got on stage w/him for a while.
Boy did we sleep for HOURS afterwards! I meant to let loose but ended up staying sober. All that sleep afterwards makes me wonder if I'm getting too old for this stuff?
-Vince- awesome to roadtrip it with u to Montreal again. We have so many memories there. U forgot your hillbilly teeth in the car tho, u bitch!
-MaxTO- the man behind the wheel. Thanks for driving up. Sucks about your car getting mangled, and the ABM theft- hopefully it all gets sorted out. Whatever u do, don't go thru your car insurance! They'll rape u in the end.
-Malek- even tho u didn't attend, our trip woulda been without u. U really are the ambassador of Montreal. Always so great to see you. And yes, Basha rules!
-Taha u bastard, I missed ya!?!
-Bertuzz, u rock! Awesome meeting u. And no, my pics arent up yet. I just got home- let me settle in, lol.
-Chrismack, Beanieboy & Marco- u had THE coolest hotel in the world. Sorry I lost u guys for most of the night. When u were around, I was taking pics, & when I was around, u were missing.
-Shanny- awesome to party with u, I know we'll do more here.
-Flec- wicked to see u at the end.
-Ron- great to see your smiling (& gurning) face. Its been way too long.
-FunKenLouis- I think I saw u on stage, but u seemed busy. We never ended up needing a ticket in the end, as my guest list spots came thru last minute.
-Chuck, Sylvain & Anthony- if u read this, awesome to party w/u up there too.
-Raveed- nice to meet u, even tho it was brief.
-Sean & Maya- always fun to see u guys at parties all over the continent.
Ok, I'm off to sort my pics. Stay tuned.... |
