Can you have too many friends? (pg. 7)

Hmm, well it all depends on what your definition of "friend" is. Personally, I have many many acquaintances that I would never consider actual friends, and very few people that I consider my friends, and can consider me their friend. Not to say that you aren't on a friendly basis with acquaintances, but for the most part they're people you party with, see here or there, and otherwise don't give a f*** about.
As for your two added questions, I don't really see how the place or method of meeting someone can affect how good/bad friends you could be with them. |

Added questions:
Can you meet friends on the Internet? And have them become best friends?
Can you meet friends in a club and have them be your best friends? |
absolutely! It's really not much different that meeting someone through friends, at work, or wherever else people typically meet.
I've been roomates with a friend now for 3.5 years...we met in line at a club over six years ago.
a simple PM on TA resulted in a good friendship having begun too. |

IMO i dont think a person can have more than 3 really close friends and by that i mean ppl whom they trust with their lives . But for me at the moment its very hard to differentiate between friends and acquaintances because I havent really had any problems yet where i needed someone to help me out and i beleive its times like those where we get to seperate the men from the boys. Ive been ed over a couple of times by guys whom i thought were my best friends and its definately changed my perception about people ....
I love acquaintances though ... no expectations no trust ... just gossip, bitching and free drinks
ps: on a side note your girlfriend/boyfriend should never be close to your best friends ... |

I LOVE people. They are truly the most fascinating, enjoyable thing to pursue that we have on this planet. I know a lot of people and I have a lot of friends but true, good, down n dirty, love you till the end friends are rare and those I treasure more than anything.
And I agree with bk - it's awesome being able to go to the club by myself and see 20-30 people I know. Makes you feel like you have this giant extended "family" that, while you might not know their middle name, you can still smile at and have fun with at shows. Sometimes, they become friends or even best friends. And my life has evolved so much in the past few years that I have groups of friends from all different stages. We were discussing this on DCS recently and someone posted this as a definition of friends you'll have in life:
Friends for a reason
Friends for the season
Friends till the end |
I with Kabelicious & BK4-Oz on this one :) I would do anything for a friend or for an aquaint. |
