Hiya
If you're in the Surrey area, I would suggest you find the Brockham firework display, its a little village just behind Box Hill, near Dorking, and they have a wicked free bonfire and free fireworks display every year.
Well worth a visit

| From my experience, your average Brit is easier to get along with than the average American. Especially in your case if those rumors about New Yorkers generally being complete s is true. By and large Americans and Brits are about the same when you really get down to it. And they both make assumptions -- couldn't count on my fingers and toes how many times I was asked if all Americans have guns! I don't really recall anyone giving me about being American, so no worries there. |

Which one do "youuz' guys" (a New Yorker term, for addressing everyone involved) all think is the biggest display?
Is Guy Fawks Day the only time of the year when fireworks really happen in the UK, (like America's 4th of July) or are there other celebrations at different times of the year. |

Actually when I lived in Bath there was a fireworks display for some city-wide festival. Can't remember what it was specifically, but I do remember thinking how poor the fireworks were in comparison to what you see in America (even in the small towns). |

Lewes is by far the most impresseive fireworks display I have ever seen, and that includes those seen on television. Five competing street processions, each ending with a bonfire, Pope burning, and fireworks display. You leave with ears ringing from the firecrackers are frequently set off right next to you (I got hit on the neck last time). It truly is mental. :disbelief
It's a bit further South than Surrey, but people travel from all over to see it.

It's the main firewoks night, but you see fireworks on New Year's Eve too. |
