i would like to know how songs are classified "anthems."
BKLN2LA
any song that is really really popular, that everyone recognizes and goes crazy for, usually really catchy...
Tranzmit
Yeah stuff like Silence (tiesto in search of sunrise) and For an angel by PVD!! Stuff that no matter how many times people hear it they go wild to it :p
Troggers
More examples: Push: Universal Nation, Energy 52: Cafe Del Mar(Three 'n one remix), Steve Bicknell: Flame in Darkness(Lords of Afford Remix), Robert Armani: Hit hard, Public Energy: Three o' Three, Speedy J: Pullover.

Well, at least in Belgium those are. They tend to vary from country to country. Just the classic tracks that everybody, and I do mean everybody loves and always will remember. They are the tracks that hold a special place in your heart.

Those are all very nice tunes but what I'm wondering about is why noone mentions Binary Finary:1998(Classic Mix). That song really knocked me off my feet, the first time I heard it.

RavingLunatic, about my previous list: Most of those records aren't even trance. They're like these really old techno-records that are labelled Retro in my country. They're all really hard and very minimalistic since most of them date back from the early nineties, but they kick ass nevertheless. They just make you wanna jump. I would suggest to you to download them. I think most of them are quite easy to find on AG.

wow, then most of the vinyls i have are anthems........dang. i dont like that. thats not good if i wanna become a good dj when i grow up. whats your opinion on that?
Troggers
If you're in a tight budget you simply buy the anthems coz they're the best records around. It would be foolish to waste your money on records that aren't so good. If you wanna be a good DJ however and have the cash to spend, you can buy some less intense, yet quality records to build your set up with and when you've driven the crowd crazy with those, you close in for the kill with those anthems of yours. An entire set filled with anthems will end up boring the people too. That's what works for me. However I'm a prog Dj(that spins a trance set on very rare occasions)so my views on a set that works might not apply to you.
