It will make finding you guys easier. I'll be wearing black slacks, a blue striped club shirt with some kandy bracelets on my arms. Not a load of 'em, but a few on each arm. Gotta represent yo.

You can also hear that tune on Victor Dinaire's next shows on XM Satellite Radio (Lost Episode), Future Progression Imported, and on Resident Nation/Music Choice DirecTV. That's a great track! |

A great track is a great track. Dave T doesn't get to decide for the rest. Some people have had deeper experiences than others when it comes to connection to their favorite music. Great songs are great songs. Great songs have the propensity to touch people more lastlingly than might seem "vogue" for regular club people, DJs, and Promoters. I think it becomes an issue when DJs are afraid to go beyond what is tried and tested or in the other extreme, are "too cool" to play a proven track because they might not appear to be cutting edge performers.
Some recent "talent" filtering into clubs around the country are playing boring, uninspiring, measured loops, for the sake of being "cutting edge". These same "acts" have been getting paid far too much for too long and are riding on their gilded names. Their days are narrowly numbered.
I'm sure Markus Schulz has a great sense of balance and that 'Breathing' would fall into his current track rotation. It's interesting that 'Find' that was available on Armin's compilation quite long ago and regularly played by him at that time, yet when it was later released it made and even larger impact with all audiences. By that time, I could have argued that that track was "played out". The truth is the track is just one of those lasting gems.
Alright, this thread is getting Hijacked so I'll relinquish. I just can't stand when people dis people like that. There's plenty of more positive things to say. Negative comments like that set the tone for all the posts that follow (including this one). Dave, you didn't need to pull that . |

You wrote all that after my itty bitty statement? dude. Should stop taking things that are said so seriously. You'll get an ulcer, I tell you!
Anyhow, I love Markus' edit of the Breathing breaks remix. Always have. Always will. But just need a break from it...also just saying, I'd rather hear some new track over a track that's two years old and have personally heard a million times. At least give it a break and play it sparingly, you know what I mean? Like when Armin or Ferry or someone plays "a couple of classics," it's not like they play it in every set. It's just a, "the time is right to play a classic" moment in their set. In that case, everyone is happy no matter what.
But if a track is simply played over and over and over and is heard in every set, whelp, it just gets old. Just like Ferry playing Punk. Those of us who attended EVERY Ferry gig around here, listen to tons of his live sets, etc, just got sick of it. We all loved the track, but it just got played out. He always played it...towards the end, it was largely because the masses wanted it. When he played in SF last October he pulled out Punk, turned towards me and said something to the likes of, "I wish I didn't have to play this anymore. I'm sick of it, but the crowd keeps asking for it." -- see, the majority of the crowd hasn't heard a million of his sets like we have. They haven't heard Punk over and over and over again like we have. So they wanted more, while we didn't want any.
This is a personal taste. Nothing against Markus of the track. If I hear it, I'll probably go nuts just like everyone else. :)
I told Ferry to break the record over his knee when he was done, but he said he had to save it for LA the next night (which I attended to :-p). |
