| AutoDJ is the name of the company. The product name will probably differ due to new develpments. |

| I knew eventually someone would make something like that....I hope it doesn't actually work like you say it does, although I doubt it will do it well. That will make DJs that actually beatmatch even less respected by the mainstream. |

"let AutoDJ take over some or even all of the mixing." Why does that scare the living sh1t out of me?
:nervous: :nervous: :nervous: |

ADJ is not meant to scare or chase away DJ's. It is developed to help them. See it as a tool that one can use. For example why use a broom when one can use a vaccum cleaner.
With ADJ DJ's will be able to extend their area of expertise by using unlimited decks, lighting and video control.
A gig in a club would be the same, without a DJ it is no fun.
It is not the medium but the music that makes the party. |

Well it's not like using a vacuum cleaner...it's more like using one of those robots that vacuums the floor for you.

I agree with you to an extent...but still. I don't know what to think really. |

Were thouse mixes totally done by the system? |
|

| Yes the mixes in the above post are completely made by the system. And not in any way adjusted from their original state. |

Bit heavy handed in bits but actually not that bad really, the third one will have all the "carpet and chrome" hole dj's ting themselfs club owners will just stick a tracklist onto one of these (maybe add a import current chart off internet feature so they don't even need to do that :p).
This must have taken a hell of alot of development. Who is behind it? Must have some pretty serious algorithms involved? |

| Just had an idea, go into music discussion take a few of the most talked about tracks then feed them into this, put the mix in the dj promotion forum. You'll get reviews then. :toothless |

The problem is that it will. I mean, obviously Paul van dyk and tiesto will get away with just not being fully appreciated for their beatmatching, but will still have gigs. But most DJs will completely lose their jobs. Club owners don't see the importance of having a dj able to read the crowd and adjust music accordingly, and things like that. They'd much rather just stick a playlist on something like this.
The added benefits...as you say the ability to do more with the tracks, is not really all that useful for most genres of music. Being able to layer more than two tracks...It'd be good for techno...but trance and most other types of music, it doesn't really matter. And most clubs have a guy doing the lights, the DJ doesn't need to do that.
Plus I do have to admit...it's kind of annoying that all my years spent perfecting beatmatching would go to waste. |
