OK I am seeing this girl, she is really nice and all but I can't stand some of the stuff she listens to. I.E. > WestLife, Guns & Roses, Korn, and lot's of other weird like that!
She tells me she does not like to dance, and hates music with a beat in it. So how would I go abouts converting her?
I got an idea of showing here some vids like 'better living through circutry' or 'groove' or 'human traffic'.
I asked here whether she would like to come to a party with me. She just seems to be a little scared, she says she like the ppl in the rave scene just not the music. She's like a rocker chick, but she is looks so cute and inocent. So what do I do???? Help me out!
I guess I could burn a couple of CD's with some classics of trance or something like that! what do u think? |

For an angel will do ;)
no, but seriously start with the cheesy and uplifing stuff, mostly stuff from 99. If she likes that then hit her of some of todays uplifting stuff
its important to get her hooked, after that its easy to introduce her to prog house and even some techno |

| okay you got a rock chick here. I dun think she wants to hear "for an angel" you need to start her with something hard and crazy. Some Drums and Bass maybe (Dj dara, Dieselboy, Krust, Goldie) Or maybe some hard break beats (Madame Mercury, dj Icey, dj baby anne)or some hard trance or techno. I think she would enjoy this type of dance music more because it seems a little more angry like rock. Then maybe if you can catch her ear with some stuff like that. Maybe she might be able to appreciate the uplifting sounds as well. My girl doesn't really like uplifting trance, but she can stand it because she loves breakbeats because i got her into them (she still likes rock though). Hope this helps.....a little. |

I know exactly what you're saying.
I also know a girl who is very sweet and innocent-looking. I was surprised to find out she prefers hard rock. When I told her about dance music, she said she didn't like it.
Be prepared for something other than a 'success story.'
If you can get her to at least stand it, that's already a big success. |

| About the dancing part...well... People who say they don't like to dance, most of the time, can't dance... and thats a problem, especially with electronic music... Encouraging someone to let go, clear their mind, and dance can be hard to do..... The good ole sayin "dance like no ones watching" is some of the best advice.... You gotta break the barrier... Alchohol NEVER hurts in breaking it... Besides, how many crappy dancers have we seen at raves/clubs?.... do you say anything? no... do you care they cant dance? no..... does it really bother you? no... why? Cuz they are having a good time, enjoying themselves, and thats all that matters.... |

You are exactly right sporttrance. Its not whether or not you can dance its just the fact you are doing it. Dancing is self expression so no one really dances bad, its just that some people can't express themselves well. :stongue:
But anyways it doesn't matter if the girl can dance or not, if she can get to enjoy the music then she could enjoy the rave/club whether she dances or not. You already said she likes ravers just not the music. It takes time to get to like electronic music because at first it all seems the same, once she finds her genre she'll be straight. I jus hope its not happy hardcore or somethin brain hurting (nothin against you frolicers) |

Definitely...
Yeah...don't get me wrong... you DON'T have to dance to enjoy the music/scene etc......but it definitely can be a plus when you can enjoy the music not just with your mind, but with your body.... |

thanx that's a good point of getting her a little drunk! Plus she likes to drink, I think you are right about that dancing thing, I don't think I am that great my self, but I just let go and don't give a flying what ppl think of me!
thanx for the advice, if you can add anything other input I would be apreciative! |

| It's very difficult to get someone to convert their music styles immediatlely. Get them to listen to some trance classics at first, that everyones heard of. Then slowly introduce them to proper trance. |
