Saddest day in Formula 1, maybe Auto Racing, history

If anyone is watching the US Grand Prix... this is a sight to be seen. And it's all due to Michelin. I can't blame the teams or the FIA or anyone else except Michelin. It's unsafe for the drivers to race with the current tires, it's unfair to give them new tires and it's idiotic to put a chicane in because some teams can't drive the course correctly.
Sad sad day. |

I'm watching it too ing . All the drivers wanted to race, all the fans wanted to race. Just the tire company ed up and passed it over onto the teams.
them, take it bridgestone will have a better share of grid next year though.
I mean they have ed up something that has a huge amount of money behind it if nothing else.
I say next year they shouldn't even be considered as a legit supplier. |

Very sad.
I just dont understand how a multi-milliondollar tyre company ed up making the right tyre compound/or whatever on a track that has has been raced several times before. What a joke.
I can see how nothing else could be done in the end other than for the michelin drivers to pull out. |

| If this is not a stronger argument for one tyre supplier only, I don't know what is. Bye bye Michelin, Bye bye US Grand Prix next year. |

It is a weird situation but bottom line is a vital component wasn't fit to purpose.
F1 is a business, and Michelin should be held liable for all the problems that'll come from this.
What do you think about all the beer cans getting chucked on the track? It might be called off? |

Absolutley ing stupid. Imagine if something hit one of the drivers. |

| No joke, 180mph car hitting a can, worse case in the helmet, a full can has a fair bit of weight in it. Could easily kill someone. |

Exactly what i was thinking. They have been talking about a one tyre supplier for a while now, and no dobt this will give it a kick up the arse. |

Only 6 cars started (and ended) the race: the Ferraris, Jordans and Minardis. All the others who used Michelin tyres pulled out after the warmup lap because of safety issues, Michelin ed up with the tyres that were sent to the teams for the weekend.
There's already a big thread about F1. |

Will the result stand? who won? |

The result stands, the minimum for it to stand is 12 cars at the start, but what counts is the start of the warmup lap. Schumacher won, followed by Barrichello, and Monteiro. |
