| Its also a good idea to get the phone number of some of your neighbors if you are cool with them just in case. You can always make small talk with them now and tell them what happened to you recently just so everyone is on the look out for suspicious people in the building. |

In my neighborhood all the freaking time. They use the fire escapes because dumb asses leave theyre windows open. There was a case here once where the robbers were in the house while the couple was sleeping and even took the husnabds wallet that was laying on the night stand right next to the husband as he was sleeping. The husband didnt wake up until he heard them on theyre way out and by that time it was too late. To top it off it was some sneaky ass kids that did it.
My house got robbed before too but we werent home and we suspect we know who it was but the cops couldnt do anything. We think it was also a group of kids because they were suspiciously around my block for a while for no reason and they saw me leave the house that day. My mom arrived home from work an hour later and called me to say the house was robbed. At that time (same neigborhood but I was living in a house) they got through the backyeard and popped the lock on one of the windows in the back and walked right in. The only took small items like jewlery money and small electronics. No large items to obviously they were on foot. |

Yes but NY is different from Florida. She lives in a residential apartment and it's prob one of those complexes that is hard to get to the back door (if there even is one.) One thing I have noticed about NYC.......people don't give a about what's going on around them. Perfect example.....Brianna picked me up from my house the other night and we were driving down the street....came apon a red light and we seen these two guys duking it out in the middle of the street and people were just driving by as if nothing was going on. Most of the time (anywhere else) somebody would call the cops and try and break the fight up. So I can see why so many people's cars and houses get broken into up here......so many hoodlums and nobody to keep their asses in check. |

Yea that is the problem with people here, most people are too scared to say something so they walk away and pretend nothing is happening. We do still have some genuinely concerned citizens but they are rare.
My neighboor saw the robbers that broke into my house, but he was a and was too scared to go to the station and identify them because he was scared his house would get broken into. Its okay though because before I moved I let my dog on his porch ;) :D |

WTF was your dog doing while they broke into your house? If I lived alone in NYC that's one thing I would have.....a BIG ing dog and I would have it professionally trained to attack intruders. We used to have a German Shepard police dog as a pet when I was younger and he would go nuts if a stranger came to our house.
So yeah Amy....GET A BIG DOG!!!;) |
