No . You were once a lowly londoner, RJ?

And Chris.. It's about expressing one's roots.

Or where I'd rather be at times. LOL

ROFL! Oh how the days of London have unfortunately not changed that much.

Ride/Slideout is no longer there though, it was moved and then demolished a while back.

DV8 is done for as well.

Ceeps is going under only kicking around for their Retro Night and overflow from the summer Barney's Patio.

Now we have Jim Bob Rays! Or as I like to call it, Rim Job Gay's! Typical Top 40 bar thriving by the droves of Western students who's night of fun includes drinking to insanity and stumbling home with whatever trashed companion they've swindled into thinking they're all that and a bag of skittles. The beefed and juiced up, white beater wearing, meatheads who work out all week to fit into their tight shirts are jsut lovely to party with. Or perhaps the stuck up, platinum blonde, high heeled, no dancing girls who are too worried about looking good than to A: talk to anyone or B: have a good time or C: smile. Such wonderful company for a night on the town.

But wait, we have a brand new club that has opened a few months ago. JACKS! Thank goodness, we now have a multi-level club simulating the Toronto clubbing life that we all know and love... or do we. INCORRECT MY FRIENDS! We have the exact same crowd and music that delievers at Jim Bob's moving over to Jacks the next night for their night of debautaury and idiotic ways.

Of course we still have the old faithful that is GT's; a meatmarket of a bar with 2 rooms playing the exact same style of music. A bar that packs in people so tight that you don't even realize the girl you're grinding (yes grinding, that basic hip-hop shuffle people in London know and believe is the only form of dancing) against is actually 16.

Oh how the bars in London are so wonderful and exciting. We do have The Phoenix though; a club that is built like a club. The lights, the sound system, the bar, the design...it's all there. However the DJ's believe it is OK to play the same music that was popular 1 yr ago religiously on a nightly basis like it's the newest and hottest tunes on the market. If you go back the next week you have the same tunes, in the same order, including the records that have scratches on them, being played over and over.

For those looking to have fun in London, seek out the underground parties, the clubs with managers who have enough balls to book proper DJ's and change the style of music in a town that USED to be a music legend.

Now, it's just about the money instead of "All About the Music".

That's the sad truth. In a college / university town, it's just not fiscally viable to play EDM as your primary format.

Colloseum is taking a huge chance, and I'm fighting with every ounce of my being in hopes that some take notice.
