ex's as friends? (pg. 2)

It's never worked for me. I usually move on. I dislike seeing my ex's out & being with other guys, so I try to keep at a distance & not have anything to do with them anymore.

Even after a few years the memories stick around. If I see an Ex on the streets these feelings will reappear.

Start afresh d00d.

give it some time... let your feelings subside before you try to have a friendship. a lot of people say the standard is 6 months but of course everyone's situation is different.

i still talk to all my ex's but i wouldn't say that i am "friends" with any of them. i mean we'll chat online or call each other up every 3 months or so, but i wouldn't call them to hang out or talk about emotional stuff.

and if u just wanna stay friends with her because u still have feelings for her - stay the hell away.

i tried bein friends with an ex b4. things were great for the first few months. it was pretty much like we were still datin only we wernt doin the fun stuff.

then one day, i see her eating the face of another bloke right in front of me, then she stopped, looked at me, and asked wat time was it? her and the new guy were off to u see....

i cant describe wat that felt like but it hurt alot worse than when we broke up.

i had to treat at least 5 girls like total e b4 i got back to normal..

I totally agree with this. You have to detach your feelings from the person where it comes to the difference between Relatonship and Friendship, or it will eat away at you (in your head)!!!

I've had to work with exes before, and we managed to be civil with each other so as we could work together, but there's a big difference between that and being friends because we want to be.

Visualize her getting together with someone else - are you happy with that? She has to be able to do the same. Then (and only then), might it just work. If either one of you is unhappy seeing the other with someone else, then you're not ready to be friends yet.

it's a hard thing 2 do. Now, throw a child in the mixup... and it gets 1000000000000000000000000000 times more difficult!!:( :(

i'm at least on good terms with most of my exes...
it takes awhile to be friends, though.
it's definitely something that needs time before you guys can be comfortable being around each other and not BEING TOGETHER, especially if you were together for a long time.
i've hung out with some of my exes post-breakup and it was fine.
others...not so much.
it depends on the person, the breakup, and how you feel.
if you want to be friends with this girl, give yourself a few weeks/months until you can get over all the hurt feelings and such..then give her a try as a friend.
it's really up to you.

I've never been able to pull it off...You could think you're friends, act like friends...but when you see that chick hitting it off with another guy, for me it still hurts no matter what.

The best way to have ex's as friends is to keep as buddys. ;)

Nothing beats sex with an ex :D

its possible if you make the breakup.. "pleasant"

Im friends with a couple ex's. in fact, if you read "my story," i just happen to be going out with one of my ex's... in both of our minds, we never should have broken up but whatever... this works :p

heh, in keeping with most of the replies here, yeh, it probably isn't likely to work (at least for the next while). same situation with me currently - over a year now since we were going out and still hurts like a bitch. (not to mention the jealousy aspect. that's bloody impossible.) to counter my own point, we're still trying to be friends despite it all (i can't make myself sever contact completely 'cause i know it would be a dire loss), but i AM trying to get some comfortable distance, and not get into any situations where cheating could be involved.

alternatively, i am decent friends with an ex from a few years ago (took over 2 years to get to that point though). can pretty much crash at her place whenever i'm back in town visiting, forgo sleep entirely for a couple nights, and go home again without any regret or residual feeling on either side.
