I have feel that present EDM have something wrong and I dont feel "the magic" like old tunes like:
Riva - Time is the healer (Hiver&Hammer RMX)
Oliver Lieb - Metro (ur mix)
Energy 52 - cafe del mar
I am not a old fan of trance in fact I have almost 2 year loving it but what is wrong? are the produccer making comercial tunes? they dont care any more? like I said I am new in this but everyone talk about trance in 98 and I feel sad to miss those year and question like why Tiesto is the Nš 1? why he is better than Paul van dyk I dont mean to say that PVD is the in produccion but I have listend live set from pdv and tiesto and....let me say pvd kick ass...playlist,mix skill, for me this guy should be the Nš 1 but again I dont know what happen those year. I fact the las tune that make me said "that is real trance" was Solid Globe - Khalajari and is sad when I realise that since then I dont feel "The magic" in new tunes. I wont lie artist like sam sharp and marcel wood (I like techtrance) are making killer tunes but those tune you know they will never become clasicc of EDM like Underworld - Born Slippy, Energy 52 - Cafe del mar, those tunes have almost 10 year and still are a kick ass tunes. what is necesary to make a tune clasic? in these days everyone know that Gabriel & Dresden are making killer tunes and remix`s even I like their tunes and the made a classic tune (ATRC) like or not this tune was great. is trance dying and now prog is the result of the evolution of trance? maybe I wrong but that is what I feel "wtf happend" I dont mean to say that every new tunes are`t good in fact i like the work of marcel woods and jesselyn maybe they need to work again or maybe not, everyone talk about Armin kicking ass but to me this guy make cheese stuff (dont flame me is my opinion) who are the best produccer in these days? for me gabriel & dresden, these guy making good tunes after good tunes and I dont like prog but i feel something in their tunes the question is:
Is trance diying?
Is trance evolving?
prog came to stay?
what about that old style almost forget calle it hardtrance?
wtf is the creepy animal in the main page on TA? |

its the result of good producers no longer produce much, cause frankly there is no money on doing so, the amount of producers have increased with 1000% in the last 4 years.. every producer moves on to software, which makes the track well produced, but with a sound not appealing to those who were there in the greater days..
AND everyone is trying to copy what was made in the older days, rather than trying to come up with something new themselves..
well, thats justmy point of view |

Yeah, trance dies every week. You just killed it again.
Thanks a lot. |

Old tunes like Time Is The Healer? :o
Every year it seems the "old" tunes get newer... how long until people are whining about how trance was so much better in 2005? |

| Stuff was always better in the past. Always. Every music, film, game and TV forum or discussion always has people saying "stuff was better in those days". The important thing is there is still more good stuff out there than you will ever have time to find, and what year it was made in is irrelevant. |

that's funny, i thought the same thing back in 97. the only difference being that the producers were different and djs weren't demi-gods.

| heres what happening...you said it right that TRANCE is dead so i think the logical solution is to move on to another genre of music. There no fun in being into a scene if all you do is dwell on the past of how good things used to be brother. Keep moving and you will find new things you like. I used to feel the same way until a discovered the beauty of progressive and how much more 1337zOrz it is LOL j/k. anyways you will find something you like eventually. |

I've been listening to EDM since the early 90s and I personally feel it's getting better all the time. Sure there are lot's of songs in the past that I have an emotional connection to. But if you go back and listen to them as if they were released today they would either be total cheese or just really sub-par productions. Get over it and search around for music, there is really good out there. Prog is great.
edit: I re-read that gibberish paragraph again and I see that you do think there is good stuff nowadays, just nothing like Cafe del Mar or something. Trance, prog, house whatever. Trance maybe dying; it maybe in a dormant phase; who knows? Just listen to what you like and be more open to another 'Cafe del Mar' because they're out there. Maybe you'll find it in prog. :)
