Wall Of Sound

He said
I am the worldly wise
Just look into my eyes
And wish for anything

And so she held his gaze
And fell into his maze
And saw that all around
Was just a wall of sound

Out there, it's all around
I see it through his eyes
I can touch the wall of sound
And feel...

Out there it's all around
I see it through his eyes
I can touch the wall of sound
And feel... alive

She felt a warmth descend
Heard life from start to end

A magic energy

No longer half alive
Immersed and mesmerized
The perfect vision found
Inside the wall of sound

Out there it's all around
See it through his eyes
I can touch the wall of sound
And feel...

Out there it's all around
See it through his eyes
I can touch the wall of sound
And feel...alive

:: Empty State ::

I look into your eyes and fall away
You make me feel I don't exist
Time can make a better place for us
But you make me feel lonely when I'm not

I can not help the way I feel for you
As I fall into your arms
I can be someone who needs you
How i tried... How i tried...

I can not help the way I feel for you
As I fall into your arms
I can be someone who needs you
How i tried... How i tried...

I can not help the way I feel for you
As I fall into your arms
I can be someone who needs you
How i tried... How i tried...

:: Shivers ::

A little bit just a little bit...
A little bit just a little bit...
A little bit just a little bit...
A little bit just a little bit...

World don't turn around
Music make no sound
Where is sweetness found
When love is gone?

Sun don't come around
Ssh... Don't make a sound
Where can love be found
If your heart won't feel?

Shivers
Up and down my spine
Breakup
Not on my mind

A little bit just a little bit...
A little bit just a little bit...
A little bit just a little bit...
A little bit just a little bit...

How could it end this way
Don't leave me, love me
Just a little bit longer
How could it end this way
Don't leave me, love me
Just a little bit longer
How could it end this way
Don't leave me, love me
Just a little bit longer

Day don't turn to night
Morning don't bring light
Where is sweetness found
When love is gone?

Won't you stay the night
Let the truth shine bright
Where can love be found
If your heart won't feel?

Memories
Motions that we shared
Teardrops
Signing my face

How could it end this way
Don't leave me, love me
Just a little bit longer
How could it end this way
Don't leave me, love me
Just a little bit longer
How could it end this way
Don't leave me, love me
Just a little bit longer
How could it end this way
Don't leave me, love me
Just a little bit longer

A little bit just a little bit...
A little bit just a little bit...
A little bit just a little bit...
A little bit just a little bit...

:: Golddigger ::

Here I am
Standing naked
That's what she said
I don't mind
As long as I get what I want

She's heaven sent
Take this subway
You're always sorry
When you tell me
What you're feeling

Ooohh she's so special
Ooohh she's so special

On and on and on
She cries for me
On and on
She makes me feel so special

She's a devil
In disguise
She's a golddigger

Well I don't mind
Don't really care

This is the end
It will be the last time (Well I don't mind)

You're always begging for salvation
But you don't have selfrespect

Ooohh she's so special
You're so f&^%king special

On and on and on
She cries for me
On and on
She makes me feel so special

She's a devil
In disguise
She's a golddigger

Well I don't mind
Don't really care

I don't want to be inside of you
I don't want to be afraid of you
It takes me nowhere
Leaves me nothing

Ohh she's so special
You're so f&^%king special

On and on and on
She cries for me
On and on
She makes me feel so special

She's a devil
In disguise
She's a golddigger
She's a golddigger

Back... Back... Back... Back
Back... Back... Back... Back

Back... Back... Back... Back
Back... Back... Back... Back

Back... Back... Back... Back
Back... Back... Back... Back

God is my witness
I can feel you
There before my very eyes
A vision to me

Don't put out this fire
It's burning for...
Burning for me
Burning for you

Stand within the sunlight
Press against me
Takes me back to other times
Different days

Love I do surrender
Belongs to...
Belongs to me
Belongs to you

Lay down on me
Naked gypsy
Watching you bathe in water
False childhood lies
Fear in your eyes
Give me a son and daughter

There is nothing I can see in my mind
A picture of you painted so vividly
Blood runs through my fingers
And through...
Through my light
Through my darkness

Lay down on me
Naked gypsy
Watching you bathe in water
False childhood lies
Fear in your eyes
Give me a son and daughter

Son and daughter

Lay down on me
Naked gypsy
Watching you bathe in water
False childhood lies
Fear in your eyes
Give me a son and daughter

Lay down on me
Naked gypsy
Watching you bathe in water
False childhood lies
Fear in your eyes
Give me a son and daughter

Son and daughter

:: Who Is Watching ::

Is it stinging?
The acid in your stream
Hear the ringing
Voices in between
You picked the tunes to play
And you had to have your way
Got your masterpiece
But you don't simply...

So here it is, custom made
You've wrapped the world around your finger
Did you take on an endless tower
Has your spring turned into winter?
You're frozen cold, a one-man show
But who is watching?
There's no one watching...

No one is watching
No one is watching

Now you've got it
Everything you asked
Burned your bridges
So why you turning back?
My doors won't fit you through
Your head's too heavy too
What could I give you now
I'm still the same tale

So here it is, custom made
You've wrapped the world around your finger
Was it all a big mistake?
Has your spring turned into winter?
You're in control, a one-man show
But who is watching? There's no one watching...

So here it is, custom made
You've wrapped the world around your finger
You claimed the fame, it's another shame
Was it all a big mistake?
Has your spring turned into winter?
You held your own, one-man show
But no one's watching, no noone's watching...

But no one's watching, no noone's watching...
But no one's watching, no noone's watching...
But no one's watching, no noone's watching...
But no one's watching, no noone's watching...

And you can't go back
And you can't come back
And you can't go back
And you can't come back

And you can't go back (But who is watching?)
And you can't come back (There's no one watching)
And you can't go back (But who is watching?)
And you can't come back (There's no one watching)

But who is watching?
There's no one watching...
But who is watching?
There's no one watching...

No one is watching...
No one is watching...

I have a couple Ultra vinyls and I must say the quality on them is terrible.

on the USA version of ASOT2005, they chopped off the last two tracks on CD1 and the last 3 tracks on CD2, and made both CDs fade out instead of coming to a real close.

a little late on the scene maybe... but thought i'd make my thoughts on this known. not that they'd be of any interest to fans of the album but alas...

my review of the cd (written whilst listening at a rather unsociable hour of the morning, apologies for the tired typing) :

1. wall of sound (feat justine suissa)

the start sounded a bit ed up & disjointed from the track.. hardly a pleasurable introduction to the album! the beats in this sound rather simple & almost amateurish, like they didn't blend well with the rest of the mix. when you compare it to tracks from more established breaks producers like chable/hybrid/habersham/greyarea etc it sounds very weak & lazy in that department. the rest of the track isn't too shabby; nice bass & use of atmospheric pads & synths... the vocals are mostly bearable but i wasn't digging the main 'i can touch the wall of sound' hook... made me cringe a little

2. empty state (feat mic burns)

i've heard several people joke that the name of this track is apt for describing the musical content. i can't help but agree. there's nothing essentially wrong with it, it just feels like a very middle-of-the-road set filler with very forgettable (& slightly odd sounding) vocals, basic chord progression & no memorable hook to it at all. structure-wise it doesn't pull any surprises either, being a very standard club plodder-alonger. and wtf is up with that outro seriously

3. shivers

admittedly this is the first time i've heard this track all the way through with the vocals... i found it a struggle. grating doesn't even begin to describe them... they're cheesy, don't with the style of music, sound slapped on & even feel offkey in places. it honestly sounds like a very bad accapella-bootleg job of a trance instrumental & a pop song. nasty. as for the tune behind them... i'm frankly sick of it now after hearing it out too many times this year, but not wanting to be biased, it has its uplifting moments.. albeit in typical trance fashion. not what i'd personally regard as good artist album material however.. music like this was designed to be mixed into sets.

4. golddigger (feat martijn hagens)

sounds almost like armin was going for a spaced out airdrawndagger feel in the intro, but it sounds messy. the main plinky sound felt quite dry & brash, and i couldn't appreciate the vocals when they first came in since they didn't sit well with/stand out over the surrounding instruments. once the beat kicks in however, it doesn't sound too bad; the production sounds alot fuller & more refined than on the preceeding, more upbeat tracks. and the vocal... sounds fine, save "she's so ing special" which hit maximum on the cringe-o-meter, why why why i ask! is armin revealing his emo roots? ruins what could have been a comparitively decent track. and it's in the chorus & keeps on getting repeated, god dammit. towards the final third of the duration it started to drag a little also.. some more variation in the structure would have been good

5. zocalo (with g&d)

yet again, the intro annoyed me. i'm not really digging armin's habit of including really dry & harsh sounding intros which don't represent the remainder of the track. as the beat/bass kicked in i clocked the g&d input, likewise for the subtle swirly pads surrounding the intro. beyond that, i'm struggling to say much nice about the track, which i'm disappointed about after reading much praise for it on various forums. the chord-progression felt very done-before, and the surrounding instruments sounded rather cheesy & almost childlike. the token g&d 'sweeping strings' sound saved the main section of the track to a certain extent, but still left it feeling lacklustre.. nothing on the majority their productions from 2002/03

6. gypsy (feat ray wilson)

ugh. the amateurish attempts at breaks from 'wall of sound' are back, this time with a few bitcrushed samples thrown in for good measure. infact jesus heavenly christ they're twice as bad before.. i actually found myself wincing in pain when they kicked back in after the first line of the vocals. absolutely horrible.. and the surrounding track makes up for them less than on the aforementioned tune, with nothing particularly striking about it at all... it seemed to end (sooner rather than later, thank god) without anything happening.. like it never reached a main section/definitive hook. but man seriously, even i could come up with a better breakbeat than that. with my eyes closed. and ears covered. and my hands removed, producing on an out-of the box version of fruityloops v1.1... if i get through life without ever hearing this tune again then i'll be a happy man

7. who is watching (feat nadia ali)

after the preceeding monstrosity of a track it took several listens before i could comfortably listen to this. thankfully it's an improvement, nadia's voice is as gorgeous as ever and the vocals as a whole actually sound catchy & memorable, which is alot more than i can say for most of the other vocal pieces on the album. the surrounding track is nice enough but feels too 'in your face' throughout, with needlessly heavy beats and a strong, dry sounding guitar playing throughout. i would have preffered a more subtle/ambient approach. the song has alot of potential all the same, i'd be very interested to hear remixes.

8. bounce back (feat remy & roland k)

by this point i've abandoned all hope of recognising any discernable structure throughout the album. it doesn't feel like a continuous journey in the slightest; just a jumbled collection of contrasting tracks. this one in particular doesn't sound like anything else on the cd; it's one of the most listenable tracks on here but feels wrong sitting on its own in the middle of an artist album. sublime yet chunky driving progressive which would work nicely as part of a set. no hook to it or anything though, i can't really judge it as a track in its own right

9. control freak

this track reminds me of serenity.. in that it's blatently copying ferry's recent style in the same fashion as serenity copying tiesto. and sounding alot worse than its inspiration in the process. that kick just doesn't seem to sit right with the bass and the prevailing offbeat hihat does my head in. the hook is kinda catchy but i'm not really feeling much with it... it could probably sound decent on a better-produced backing track; everything sounds far too coarse & dry as it stands.

10. serenity (feat jan vayne)

this tune blows even more chunks in the context of the album than it did as a single. i loathe it with a passion and frankly couldn't be arsed putting up with it again for the purpose of this review, i left my original thoughts on a thread in the reviews forum somewhere

all in all, whilst i've not exactly been armin's biggest fan of late i went into this completely unbiased... i honestly expected to rate AT LEAST ONE TUNE highly out of the lot but given the standard of his older productions, this has left me cold. 'bounce back' would work as a set filler. 'who is watching' would sound excellent with a decent remix but alas not in its current state. 'wall of sound' & 'golddigger' showed signs of potential but were executed pretty poorly. the rest i have no time for. extremely disappointing

(disclaimer: the above is all stricly imo, i'm not pushing my thoughts onto anyone and do not expect people to take them into consideration when deciding whether to listen to/purchase this album, (although wouldn't object if they chose to))
Prism
not sure what everyone else expected but obviously his own productions (not remixes) are on a commercial level, singles such as Shivers, Yet Anothr Day, were aimed to be played on the radio and no way meant to represent what he plays out in clubs. You obviously heard his ASOT shows and expect rather full on trance album but you're wrong. I am only glad to hear a variety of singers appear on the album on some chill out tracks though...

As said above, bit of a dissapointing cd. The good tracks have been mentioned, but does anyone else think that the melody in Zocalo sounds a bit like Rank1 - Airwaves?

This is indeed one of the problems i had with the album, there's no structure at all, which is offcourse not very important on an album, more in a DJ set. But these tracks sound very different.

Zocalo has alot of G&D sounds, very different from Armin.
Bounce Back is Remy & Roland style, totally doesn't resemble Armin's style.
Serenity doesn't even sound like Armin, more like Tiesto.
Shivers = cheesy vocal trance.
Golddigger, Armin calls it a ballad, it's different from the rest in style, sounds are the same as Wall Of Sounds & Gypsy, which do resemble alot.
Control Freak & Empty State are normal Armin tracks.

Listening through the cd i didn't like the structure. Zocalo, Serenity & Bounce Back just don't fit the album.

For me the good tracks are:

Empty State, i like the vocal in it and the way the track progesses.
Zocalo is good, G&D are ofc good but this track is nothing really special.
Control Freak has a nice drive i like, but that's about all it has to offer.

The others are not memorable for me, perhaps some remixes could turn out nice. If i were a DJ there would be no way i would play any of this stuff.

If you ask me i think people like Armin, Ferry, Tiesto & Pvd shouldn't make artist albums. Because there's always like 2-3 tracks i like and the rest is decent but useless. I'm disappointed with this album, just like the other albums by the big DJ's. Then again there's not much good EDM artist albums, only one i got is Way Out West's last album. The rest i just listen to once and lose interest..

Actually it's the only track on the album that only Armin worked on.

This album is the worst i've heard this year by far.

i ve just listened to a track called "hymn". It is supposed to be the bonus track in the third album sampler. Its a pure instrumental soundtrack like tune, deffinetely armin's best work!
