im at work at the mo, like a few londoner's are....this isnt gonna make us go and hide and be scared.........its amazing how well the brits have taken it......altho i must say the train trip this morning was eerie and surreal....the usually packed trains ...literally each day is started off with loads of ppl crammed in (in most cases...not safe at all!) standing huddled together like sardines...were 1/4 full if that....

these heartless bastards must be found....then publically stoned to death (just like they do to their own!) .... not thrown into jail...

Matt, if my child supported troops in Iraq, or was stupid enough to go to Iraq and fight for an imaginary cause that would only cause more bloodshed, then I'd save myself any pain and kill him myself for being so stupid.

Yes, we feel more pain when we lose a loved one, but it seems some of us feel more sympathy when 50 people in London die in relation to 1000 people in a country we have no ties with.

My point however is that these "terrorists/revenge seekers" are no worse then Bush, Blair and Howard. Infact Bush, Blair and Howard are bigger terrorists and cowards as they get the chinstroking luxury of sitting behind a desk and directing the brainwashed media droids that make up the military.

Naturally, the fact that many of you all knew somebody over here is going to drive home the scary realism of the time we're living in.

That's crap ... i think London Mayor Ken Livingstone put it best:

quote:
This was not a terrorist attack against the mighty and the powerful. It was not aimed at Presidents or Prime Ministers. It was aimed at ordinary, working-class Londoners, black and white, Muslim and Christian, Hindu and Jew, young and old. It was an indiscriminate attempt to slaughter, irrespective of any considerations for age, for class, for religion, or whatever.

I'm totally against having troops in Iraq man, and it saddens me what is going on over there. And my question said nothing about sending anyone to Iraq, which of course I would be against (but i would never kill someone for going? lets hope you dont breed). I'm relating more to how you entered into this thread, trying to play it down, comparing it to bigger and worse ordeals suffered by humanity.

Of course we care more for those peoples we have ties with, London & England being probably the source of our greatest bonds overseas.

Oh man, I'm gonna get shot here, but I know your ties are probably in a different country (you're hungarian right?) and it probably doesn't seem that this london bombing should get as much emphasis as it is.

The fact is, I'm like a lot of Australians who have a heritage originating from England. That is our homeland in my many respects, and although I love Australia, you should never forget where you came from.

You can even break this down to a genetic and evolutionary level, you will instinctively care and look after those whom you have closer genetic relationships to. Thats digressing a bit though.....

And I'm not going to talk about politics now, cos I cbf'd.

From the start, I was just trying to point out why Australians have such a care about what has happened here, not that you (Rob) are wrong, I agree with you on most points. :)

we have to deal with it, we have to carry on, if we don't, they win and that is not an option. It has been a lot less than we'd expected, we knew we were a potential target but on the scales of 11/9 and Madrid & Bali, we were lucky.

Prime suspects so far is a group of british born-asians in their 20s from the west midlands (birmingham area) who are all well educated but then went to a dangerous area of Pakistan near the Afghan border & were taught there. So sad and annoying that they could bite the hand that's fed them, that's allowed their parents & families to live in and have an easier life than they would have done back home. Unfortunately laws are so screwed up here that people can preach hate to them (radical clerics) and we're powerless to stop them.

Oh boo-hoo, less then a dozen people died and a few hundred people inhaled puffs of fumes and it's bombarded in the media as being some kind of armageddon . I guess when a few people die from such an "atrocity" that as the media claims "callus savages" commit it's labeled as "terrorism" yet when the US, Britain, Australia & France send troops over to kill innocent people it's happily reported as "peace-keeping" :gsmile:

Take a look on graphic websites ( http://www.***********/archives/war/index.html ) that show the number of lives these so called peace-keepers have taken, and the number of families they've destroyed, yet it's never ing reported on. They're labeled as peace keepers, and hero’s, yet the savage mentality needed by these "peace-keepers" to pull tank triggers at fellow humans, and drop bombs from the safety of their planes and apache helicopters makes them no less callus and savage then the so called "despicable vile monsters that have no regard to human life and therefore must be hunted down and destroyed" they're trying to police.

That was coming from Beazley the fat piece of

Far be it from western media to objectively report on the situation and not paint the US and Britain as the perpetrating terrorists of this situation but rather the innocent victims who never deserved this. This wasn't an act of terrorism but an act of revenge and payback. I say good on them as they've disrupted a few lives, just like Blair's pompous nose disrupted a few lives by sending troops into Iraq with guns flailing at innocent civilians who ended up being used as *accidental* target practice.

how can you condemn one group of people for killing, and then congratulate another group, it's the same fkn thing, innocent people are dead.
dismissing the death of even one person just coz their country went to war with another is just wrong and fkn retarded, how do you know they weren't one of the Millions of people who protest against the war in iraq?

and i've seen just as many reports on the news about the destruction we've brought to iraq with the war as i have on the "peace keeping"
anyone who can overlook these deaths as inconsequential in an act of revenge are just fkd in the head.

No one here has undermined the deaths of the people in iraq i dunno y you felt it necessary to point it out, like it somehow justified what happened in london, everyone here knows what's going on, you don't have some great worldy knowledge, and if you bothered to have a look at people's opinions on the war in iraq (if memory serves me correctly there was a thread on it) you'll find the vast majority (including the ones you told to off) are OPPOSED to it, and sympathised with the innocent people of iraq, if you don't like the fact that no one is depressing enough to make a thread for every person that dies in iraq there's a website for ya here.
