i totally agree. i think cynicising an internet forum should be the way to go for all wannabe DJs/Producers :)

If you want listen to the whole thing go download or buy the single. If you are playing one track every 6 minutes and you are happy with that, then thats cool I guess. Personally I think thats boring as and you should be doing something else. Acapellas, scratching, effects, doesn't matter, just be doing something else.

I'll support any one who deserves it as I've said previous in this thread, but throwing down 10 trance tracks in a row isn't going to do it for me.

i hate to point out the obvious, but some ppl arent the most gifted uber DJs in the universe, and might not be able to do more than beatmatch & mix (looks in the mirror). i for 1 wanna hear the whole tune (if i like it).
gumble
haha, or is it because you need a few attempts to get the beat in that u end up hearing it all anyway?

Then they should practice more, like gumble (who I'm sending out an e-hug too, he clearly needs it :(), and get to the point where they can do that. If they want that is, if they are happy with 10 track promos then thats good for them, a lot of other people wont be though.

WILL SPIN FOR BEER.

haha, im still averaging 1 mini-train per 90 (edit: listens to tnites practice, haha make that 60) mins or so, so yep! i like a bit longer just to make sure. plus most of my tunes have really long breaks, and im still not good at beatmatching thru them.

fair enough. but there is a limit to everyone's talent you know. im quite happy to murder a DJ who plays a bunch of e i dont like, but never gonna criticise their skill(s). everyone has different standards/goals/abilities. right now, if i can get a whole CD in time and in key, im pleased. im more than happy to admit i aint ever gonna be world-class. i have little goals. no problems with that im sure you'll agree. :)

If there is a big breakdown with high hats, match the high hats to where you think they should be on the incoming record. If not start the incoming recording at the start of a phase and listen to see how much it's off, you wont get it any where near exact but you'll be a lot closer to where you should be sooner rather than waiting for the beat to kick back in.

I'm happy to admit I'm never going to be world class either, and I've gotten far more respect in this thread than I thought I would. I think the only limit to someone's talent is the time they put in. I'd rather murder a technical dj as opposed to one who doesn't play my taste in my music though (assuming im listening to them at a club/party/whatever).

well, i guess im lucky in that most DJs i get to hear are better than i am ;) i guess i get a bit irritated when ppl who are talented/established start denegrating the juniors coz the newbies arent up to their lofty standards. not everyone wants to be pushing the boundaries or being all neo-like. some of us just wanna play some cool tunes adequately, have a laugh, and hope other ppl enjoy it.
