Is there a superior aircraft to the Avro Lancaster?

Definitely not.
I seriously tear up bigtime whenever I see one of these things in real life, and I jump at any chance to do so.
With a grandfather who flew one in WWII, I have nothing but respect and admiration for both the aircraft themselves and the valiant crewmembers who manned the beautiful winged beasts.

Ironically, in a new drive for efficiency the Canadian Aircraft Industry has announced plans to close the plant that built the Avro Arrow.
Saw this on CBC news the other day. |

i went to the candaian air museum on sun in ottawa. saw some really nifty planes. saw the lancaster and parts of the avro arrow.
i suggest everyone go see it when they are in the area |

The brits and canuks had the Lancaster, Wellington and Halifax
and the yanks had the B-15's, B-17's during WW2.
Lancaster is cool cause it was the biggest.

The Dambusters.
Destroyed the Eder, Mohne, Sorpe dams.
Also the infamous Nazi battleship Tirpitz, and the Peenemunde rocket research facility.
Sure, not nearly as impressive on paper as the B-29, but an older design, more elegant lines, and a supposedly superior flying experience. All that hardcore legacy too. |

I don't know if this one can fly as fast, but by the looks of it, it just might be better! :D hahah
