The original catered to adults as does this version...

i just saw this movie today and it wasnt essential. I think i went into this movie expecting too much out of it and came out somewhat disappointed. The whole movie was pretty decent, but to me the ending just didnt seem right to me and I was like WTF?

People expect it to be a remake of the willy wonka and the chocolate factory which it is not... The writer hadnt even seen the original...Also notice the titles of the movies are completely different. They are both based from the book though...

well i havent read the book in a long time but i felt the new movie strayed away from it many times.

I personally wouldn't be interested in a perfect remake of anything. A writer's/producer's/director's interpretation is always the most interesting part of a movie. And the writer (and I'm sure Burton too) really interpreted hardcore here. :p The glass elevator was my favorite part.

The new movie infact is closer to the book than the older movie...
