Are you indirectly killing the music scene?

Just wondered what your thoughts were on this?
I have notice how annorak like some peoples comments are on this website and how tune spotting a lot of you are. Which is fine as everyone is entitled to do what they want and talk about what they want.
However Almost every dj i have spoke to about this subject thinks that you guys are killing the industry. Due to constant moaning, Every dj has to play the newest stuff out or they will be barracked and slated by people on forums such as this one for playing tunes that were(dare i say it!) one month old!!
Also if a single mix goes out of place they are labelled a rubbish dj and are also in line for a Slating. This i find most unfair.
Now I don't know what you all listen to dance music for but I for one listen to it to have a good time and because i enjoy the music. This was what i originally did for a few years but i have felt since 2000 people have started taking dance music far too seriously due to people being what i would say is a bit to geeky about dance music.
Now I expect to be called every name under the sun after stating this but i would appriciate some constructive critisim back if you are going to say anything.
Your Thoughts???? |

The really funny thing is half the people that say the things have never even had a sip of alcohol let alone gone out to a club. |

True.
But even if someone hasn't sipped a bit of alcohol then why would there opinion differ to anyone elses? |

| I personally love it when dj's throw in an old toon(years not months). Blast the the past, brings back good memories. |

| Its really a very vocal and small minority that says this stuff, they coudln't possibly be making any significant impact. |

Actually thats what i would call all the ppl you are refering to! No in way do they have enough power to "kill" the scene. in this area it barely exists, and though ppl bitch, you still see them at most shows. Check any forum on any topic and ppl bitch, thats part of being on the nerd box! not just this site... Forums are generally rubbish imo.
I Love the music, thats why i listen, im no where near as picky as some of these tarts lol.
Check the "trance cheese" thread, some ppl say that all trance is cheese... but they're still listening : go figure. |

Well its nice to see people share the same opinion as myself then.
I think people need to enjoying clubbing a bit more rather than just go to see what tune is going to be played and moan about how this isn't as good as the old days.
I am only talking about clubbing in the uk tho and parts of Europe as i haven't been to far fetched with my clubbing adventures, Howevr i get the impression this is happening everywhere at the mo? |

| No, the real problem is the idiot "DJ's" you talk to who aren't doing what they want to do. |

At the end of the day, this forum is only a drop in the ocean of the dance music scene, and the vast majority of people are in it purely to go out and have a good time.
Personally I couldn't give a about DJs. They don't deserve their reputation in this scene. Ultimately, a DJ is nothing more than a walking record player of other people's music. And that music is what really counts. Whether it's old, new, obscure or famous, as long as it does the job at the right time I'm happy. |
