As for making playlists on the fly, isn't it that a little tedious on a hand held?

ty on the sound end? haha, you have got to be kidding me!

In terms of being a knock off, you are completely right there. Apple made an awsome product in terms of user interface, and so the rest followed. Everybody is trying to emulate the iPod, and for good reason. I just prefer the creative menu system, which has been around a while now. I didnt want addons, i just wanted more functionality in the menu system, more features built in, albeit Creative has done a good job updating the firmware over time.

The only other addon i wanted was an fm trasmitter, which i got. I dont care if it doesnt neatly fit into the interface, it wasnt ment to.

Making playlists on the fly is awsome. Not tedious at all. You can que up artists, albums, individual songs, change the order of play, remove, and save the playlists. Its great cause i can be away from a computer from days at a time traveling, and that way i dont get sick of the same playlists.

Your DAMN ING RIGHT IT'S AWESOME!

That is the ONE feature I would say I relatively dislike about my iPod mini when compared to a Zen Micro.... changing a playlist is KEY!

You can make a playlist on the fly w/ the iPod, but you cant modify the order of play... whutever order you add the songs to the playlist in, is the order they play in (i really dislike this restrictiveness).

How easy is it to rearrange the order of songs on the the Micro and other Creative Labs products! I need to talk to Matt and see how easy its done! Honestly -- KEWLEST feature EVER! I really do wish my iPod could do that.

But everything else about it I enjoy just as much or more than the Zen Micro.

And one of the only companies that allows you to make playlists on the fly...thats a huge thing in my book. If i were to get a new player, it would be a Creative, for that reason alone.

I dunno whut you mean about the menu system. I have seen Matt's Zen Micro and it looks EXACTLY the same as my iPod mini's screen -- only a different font and a tad bit tinier (which i guess it good, more characters would fit on the screen).

Though I really do dislike the Micro's scrolling feature (when compared to the iPod's TouchPad). The scrolling strip is better than whut ive seen on many an other player, but no where NEAR as good and versatile as the iPods touch pad (IMO). PLus i alwasy end up somehow touching the center part to hard and end up selecting a menu when i dont mean to.

I like hte way the Micro lights up too, the buttons and around the edge fo the player in blue! TOTALLY COOL feature I love as well.

Both are very very VERY solid players if you ask me. I dont think either one sucks -- both are top-notch.

EDIT: How is the Contacts feature in the Micro or other creative Labs products. Its a HUGE selling point for me w/ the iPod. The contact viewing feature is done BEAUTIFULLY! I use it ALL THE TIME (since I dont use cellphones).

Man, i dunno whut id do w/o my iPod when in TO. I NEED its contact lists to be able to get in contact w/ my friends! :D

I love you iPody/Gertie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *heart*

i didnt know it was the same, the only other players which i thought had the same interface was the Dell Dj players, which actually got it from the creative players. Its just the "Now Playing" menu which i love. Anything you play will be added to it, and its stored there.

If you add an album the the playlist, you can move the entire album up and down in the play sequence.

I dont know about the contacts feature for the micro, my player doesnt have one, cause its too old. That doesnt botter me one bit, cause i have all my contacts in my phone anyways, where it actually needs to be.

The touch pad for the Mirco, is a huge draw back. Many reviewers have claimed that its just too sensitive sometimes, and can be fickle. I agree when i used it, but i didnt think it was that bad. But the one thing that makes it way better, is the removal battery. When i saw that iPods didnt have that feature, i didnt have to look at anything else. I knew it wasnt for me. Like i said before, i travel a lot on the weekends, and being able to take a few charged batteries is a huge plus for me. What happens when your 8hrs on your ipod runs out? thats it, its done, no more contacts! lol. So when im traveling, i have 3 batteries, at about 10-12hrs each, so i can get up to 30hrs of playback, without having to worry about charging.

EDIT: my player has a scroll wheen on the side, which took a bit of getting used to, but now with that, and the back button, its a breeze doing what i need to in the player.

I thought originally (very strongly too) that this would be an issue. And in the end: NOT EVEN.

I have a dual DC and AC charger for my iPod. I just plug her in (same as into the computer) and 's good as gold.

Even if I owned a Micro now and HAD the option of removeal batteries, I'd not even bother with that business. It's simply toooooo easy and simple to just plug the ing thing in and let it charge up -- 2 hours and im at 80%, and so long as I have an DC or AC adapter, there really is no excuse for my battery to ever run out... esp. since my battery gets 18 hours of life at its max potential (the Micro's is 12 hours).

Honestly, changing that battery is a hastle I dont even care I dont have an option for. Bringing in the car my charger is the simpliest thing in the world... I can play music AS IT CHARGES, or just charge it up that night when slepeing somewhere (like say in a motel or something if I was traveling).

Honestly, worrying about your battery running out is not a concern you'll ever have with an iPod (or atleast I don't have such worries ever cross my mind).

18 bloody hours!? how the hell do you get that!? Even ipods website only claims a MAX of 15 hours.

and i dont have a car, and say i travel to kinston via bus(which i do regularly) thats a 5-6 hours of traveling each way. I dont want to pack a charger, cause i want to pack light. So i just take another battery with me. Works great.

^^^ See above. I have an iPod mini (2nd generation). Their battery life is a max of 18 hours.

Honestly, my charger is not much bigger than the size of the Micro batteries -- I've seen Matt's.

The difference in packing an extra battery or packing the iCase car/home charger I have is negligible... for all intensive purposes there is no real difference, honest.

Aye. I love the iPod's look above all others. Simple. Eligant. Nice.

All that I want and desire. Nothing too fancy -- I don't like fancy or busy.
