Lets see all the other states follow example
quote:
LOUISIANA BECOMES THE FIRST STATE IN THE USA TO CRIMINALIZE SALVIA DIVINORUM

On June 28, 2005 Governor Kathleen Babineaux Blanco signed into law House
Bill 20. The new law, called Act No. 159, goes into effect on August 15,
2005. Beginning on that date, it will be illegal to possess, manufacture, or
distribute Salvia divinorum in Louisiana. The law applies to the plant
material itself, as well as mixtures that contain it and preparations made
from it. The penalty for possession is imprisonment with or without hard
labor for not more than 5 years and, in addition, a possible fine of up to
$5,000. The penalty for manufacture or distribution is imprisonment with or
without hard labor for not less than 2 years nor more than 10 years and, in
addition, a possible fine of up to $20,000.
The new law applies to numerous "hallucinogenic" plants and fungi, not just
Salvia divinorum. The law only applies when the material is intended for
human consumption. It does not apply to the possession, planting,
cultivation, growing, or harvesting of a hallucinogenic plant strictly for
aesthetic, landscaping, or decorative purposes.

What about Nitrous Oxide (hippy crack)?
dj_bas
so why dont you just grow it for "asthetic, landscaping, and decorative purposes" and THEN eat it. stupid ass law lol
UWM
I can buy 20x salvia extract up the street from my apartment.

domino effect. first louisiana, which probably has a booming meth problem i might say, but then other states will follow. probably starting in the south. i better try this before it becomes illegal in florida.
{b.s.e.}
Louisiana was also big on chain gangs.
guster
At the Grant Parish Federal Prison they still have chain gangs and they wear striped uniforms. Heard about Angola? They have an annual prison rodeo where the prisoners get out there and risk their lives cause they have nothing to live for since going to Angola basically means life in prison. They'll tie money around a bulls neck and the prisoners try to get it off. I you not.

I've never done the .. seems too intense, but honestly I don't understand the harm? How many murders have been committed under its influence? Who's robbed a gas sstation for their Salvia fix?

These days it seems lawmakers are more concerned with keeping people in a natural state of mind rather than examining whether the substance is truly harmful to society. Salvia, I think, is not.

By the way, there is a huge meth problem. ing hillbillies.

And here's one for you Blanco.. dumb bitch. Worst governor ever. All she did in her first couple of months was overturn all of our previous governor's laws and now this.
Lepanto
Wait time out. I might've missed something but drugs only become illegal if their chemical compound is similair to other Schedule I II or III drugs. Salvia is not close to any other drug...?

haha, dont mean to upset but

quote:
EW YORK STATE TARGETS SALVIA DIVINORUM

The New York State Senate recently voted to pass a bill (S-4987) that will
make it illegal to sell Salvia divinorum in that state. The bill passed 55
to 1. Violators would be punishable by a fine of up to $500.
A similar bill (A-4412) pending in the State Assembly would make possession
of the herb a crime, but one punishable with only a $50 fine.

id rather not turn this into another pot head liberation thread but now that i think about this stuff i'm kinda intrigued. its interesting that alcohol remains legal but while many of these other drugs are not.

i'd bet if you found a light substance similar to pot that was new and hasnt been made illegal yet, and commercialized it before they had a chance to, then you could really have something there. i mean they tried to make alcohol illegal after everyone was and had been using it for quite some time and well we know how that went

yeah, like a few thousand years
