LOL, this is just to funny, was gonna post this before, but I didnt have time or whatever, anyway:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/4717139.stm

So apperntly there is a hidden sex scene in GTA san andreas, and the world is on uproar! (at least the US/Australia/UK :p, havent heard anyone mention it here)

WHAT THE IS THE PROBLEM!? the game was rated 17 already in the US and this is apperntly too much for 17 years old to handle? WTF again!

quote:
"It appears that the publisher has blatantly circumvented the rules in order to peddle sexually explicit material to our youth"
Fred Upton, Republican Congressman

quote:
The House of Representatives has overwhelmingly called for investigation into the companies behind the game

quote:
The uproar is over explicit sexual scenes in the game that can be unlocked with software created by a fan.

:wtf: :wtf:

yah, uh, way to keep up on old news! has this been posted before? im too lazy to check right now so I'll riddicule you later.

I'm actually with the governments on this one. I'm not a devote fan of the game but I've played it and I was shocked with how graphic the first one was. I'm fairly liberal and even I think the industry is going too far with a lot of these games. YES - interactive sex in a video game is outrageous. Consider where these games have come from, such as Mario Brothers. If someone didn't step in to stop this (might as well be our governments) then the games are going to get worse and pretty soon they'd just be animated porn.

I think everyone with a brain agrees with you. The level of outrage over this is embarrasing.

"everyone with a brain" and your source is that site? You ing kids today; stop spazin out. You'll get your virtual blood, guts, gore, and sex. It will just be more regulated and harder to get.

Which doesn't really mean anything to kids today since many of you are downloading pirated copies of these games anyway.

No, the source wasn't my site, it just verbalized my opinions better than I could. You do make a good point, though. I'm just disgusted at them for doing so much for one game, like all this adult content wasn't present in video games before.

Did you read the link? it was ing hillarious, and so true.

Seriously, first of all i dont think age limits like this makes much sense, but second of all, i think a 17 year old can handle a litle bit of sex, and thridly, why are you allowed to shot ppl etc when you are 17, but not watch some animated sex?

and as for being late, it was like 5 days ago... haha and i did have a disclaimer in the first sentence :p

The whole what is acceptable and what is not for what age debate aside, you guys are putting way too much into this. The issue at hand is the sex was hidden in the game with the ability to unlock later. As well as whether or not Rockstar games deliberately tried to hide content from the ratings board.

The industry has so far been allowed to get away with a lot and this whole thing is just an excuse for government regulators to crack down. All it means is tougher regulation on what graphic material will actually get through filters and on the shelf. It is also an attempt to wake up game makers and let them know this won't be tolerated anymore and make them pay more attention to what they put in their games.

It doesn't mean very much for you. Maybe a 17 year old can handle sex maybe they can't but the current legal age in the States is 18. So maybe the game companies will have to tone down their content a little, you probably won't notice the difference. Who knows maybe they'll even go so far as to make games more violent and more graphic and sell them under an Adults Only title. These ratings really have no meaning and will be enforced no further to the extent of an R rating for a movie in the theater. They're just there so little old Mrs. Robinson in Durham, Kentucky can sleep better at night knowing her government gives a damn about what her children are exposed to.

We are putting way too much effort into this? There are ing congressmen engaded in this, there is nothing better for them to do you think?! Perhaps we should care about this, but hey really, the ones who are putting way too much into this arent us!

Also, ever heard about "east eggs"? Programmers putting stuff into programs just for fun, and then sometimes ppl discover it (like you could play hover in excel 97 or soemthing like that). I dont think they intentionally wanted a game to get through the rating systems but still get in some sex into the game. Not very likely, probably just some programmers haveing fun without thinking ing congress would get involved.

Again, america is already way to paraniod when it comes to this, a litle bit more leviant would only be good. For example every time you watch a tv show where they have some kind of sex in it (like really really softcore) you get warned before, if ppl are swearing you get warned too etc.

My point with this thread was not only how stupid this particular case is, but how stupid the general case is and how affraid ppl are of stuff like this.

A friend of mine in Canada got IDed when he tried to buy a game, thats ing hillarious imo but it still shows how stupid this is and that it actually is followed sometimes (he didnt have any ID with him so he could buy the game LOL).

And whats the point of all this fuss if no one is following it anyway? Some kind of recomended age would be good i suppose, but then there realy is no need for congress to get all upset for it!!!

Its not ridiculous at all to see why this is an uproar. Say I produce a magazine with graphic content but is available to minors, but the catch is on page 69 Jenna Warpig is doing spread eagle. Well, there's a problem because pornography can only be bought by non-minors (18+). Regardless if its a page, a two second clip, or a four hour fest, pronography is pornography and the game must either comply with the law (regardless of wether you believe it to be just) or face the consequences. I personally could carae less for the game. I believe it was a game made to arose a reaction, remember word of mouth is the best form of marketing. Sure they might get slapped with a fine, but do you know how many kids are going to rush out and by the game and the sequals to come. So please, don't bull me with this sob story for the game programmers. They should get heavily fined for believing thye were above the law.

I laughed when they showed the sex scene on the news and blurred out the "girl's" pixeled ass.

the uproar over this is ridiculous.

first of all, what people want to do with their hard-earned money & time is their own business. they don't need the government (particularly Hilary Clinton) shoving what they view as right or not right down their throats. if people want to be offended, they don't have to PLAY or BUY the game. it's really as simple as changing the channel or turning off the TV when you don't want to watch.

having to rely on the government to babysit people too stupid and lazy to dictate what their kids are playing (even though its rated 17 and up) is just nonsense. once again if you don't like it, don't spend your money on it and most importantly don't bother.
