On a whim, I decided to take RJ's sage advice.

I will admit, it's not what I was thinking it was; kinda reminded me of using Nivea™, which I've used in a pinch and that doesn't do that bad of a job either.

My wife however, saw the tube and says, "My DAD used that when he was in the military for years" which made me think; am I doomed to be her daddy's protegee?
On second thought...my wife being who she is...that's a good thing...

I guess what I'm tryin' to say is...thanks to RJ for this relationship brick-builder of a product... who knew? :p

signed....a happy customer...

Then you're using too much or not lathering it enough. I've used it with a Mach 3 Power (battery powered) razor while away on at the ranch and had no problem with it clogging when I ran it under a steady stream of hot water.

Only use 2 cm (3/4") of it and make sure to rub it into your beard until it is very foamy.

RJ being the man that you are, when I came across this thread I had to read it and after doing so I had to try out this product you speak so highly about. Well last night I was going on about 4 days growth so off to the local SDM and picked up a tube of this magical shaving solution. Well what can I say? That has provided me with one of the best shaves that I have ever had, close, clean, and no irritation. Thanks for the tip tipster. Two thumbs up!!

I didn't think this $3.99CAD tube of shaving cream would compete with my $26+USD English creams...I was wrong.

Shaving is one of those love-hate things. It's a pain in the ass to do every single day, but when one has a really good shave - the day just goes off without a hitch.

In search for the perfect shave - I've made a habbit of to trying new shaving products. Anything that makes a shave more enjoyable, more comfortable and more satisfying is worth sharing with my fellow TAs.

Although at the present time I have a beard - do not discount my evaluation of the following product...

I can easily say that I've tried 30+ brands, varieties of shaving products. I have used shaving gels, shaving lotions, shaving creams, shaving oils, shaving soaps and even shaving talcs! My adventures in shaving have taken me from non-name brands through to seemingly high-end cosmetics - all in search of the perfect shave.

The product below - based on my vast experience and knowledge - offers the most superior shave experience possible. From both a performance and cost perspective - Florena Rasiercreme (Shaving Cream) is -the- best shaving product I have ever used.

Florena Rasiercreme is made to the highest standards in Waldheim, Germany and is available at Shoppers Drug Mart, Wal-Mart and other such stores for ~$3.00 CAD$ per tube (it comes in a tooth-paste type of tube).

A half-inch squeeze of product is enough for the entire face and produces a rich, lubricating lather - gentle, protecting and moisturizing. Apply to the face and gently "buff" it until it's worked into the beard, then shave away.

IMO Florena Rasiercreme is the best shave medium on the market.

You'll thank me after you've tried it.

:( Sad news...

Apparently this product is being discontinued (in Canada?).

I was at IDA this evening looking for some Florena shaving cream and they had none in stock (which is unusual).

And then I noticed on all their other Florena products (shaving balm, body wash, moisturizer, etc.) that they were sticked "FINAL SALE" and had their prices dropped by $2-4.

So I asked an employ what the scoop was? She informed me that Florena products were being discontinued. I asked if she meant just with IDA (as in IDA was no longer carrying the brand)?

She told me, no -- everywhere (which I presume just means in Canada, since their German website gives no hints as to their products being off the market in Germany).

Such a shame!! This was the best shaving cream I've ever found or used. I'm really gonna miss it somethin'.

I bought, one last time, some Florena shaving balm and body wash (which they still had some of) since once this stock sells out, I'm prolly SOL for buying this product ever again... (unless I resort to eBay or the like online I imagine).

Alas... :disbelief

ty, sorry to hear Jamie. If you can't find anymore...Go to The Body Shop and buy Maca Root men's shave cream. It's amazing. Buy a brush for application as well. It'll last about 40% longer. Best shave cream I've ever used. It's ridiculous how little you need too, it lathers so well. A fingernail's worth every morning on a brush is more than you'll ever need.

It does my face and head.... simultaneously every 3 days!

Haha! We are saved!

Our friends @ Nivea purchased Florena and re-released the "Florena Rasiercreme" as "Nivea Extra Moisture Shave Cream".

It comes in a box at Shoppers Drug Mart or wherever you buy shaving stuff.

This is most excellent news. I'm almost out of Florena.

Thanks RJ.

Just saw this thread now. Amazing and will most definitely keep an eye out for the "Nivea extra shave" brand. (after I use another brand in a similar kind of tube I forget the name of of course...)

Forget who told me this, but I heard that some shaving creams / gels are formulated to intentionally corrode shaving blades, increasing the demand.

I was also watching Boardwalk Empire the other night, and as Nucky Thompson was getting a shave from a servant with a straight razor, I was thinking that if I were a gangster with enemies, I'd pay whoever shaved me a lot. Otherwise he'd be easy to bribe him to 'accidentally' take a nick out of my jugular.
